The weekend saw a stellar awards night with the American Music Awards 2021 at the Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater, with Cardi B. as its host. Among the night's most anticipated performances were Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler the Creator, Carrie Underwood with Jason Aldean, Silk Sonic, New Kids on the Block, and BTS with Coldplay.

While she was not present at the ceremony, Taylor Swift took home two awards: Favorite Pop Album for evermore and Favorite Female Artist. At this point in time, the artist still holds the record for the most awarded artist in AMA history, with a amazing total of 34 recognitions.

Meanwhile, it was an epic achievement for BTS and ARMY as BTS received their very first Artist of the Year award! The supergroup also won awards for Favorite Pop Group (their third time in a row) and Favorite Pop Song for “Butter", the latter of which they performed on stage. BTS joined Coldplay to perform the mega hit "My Universe", too!
