The month of June has always signaled an exciting time for musicians and music lovers alike. Fête de la Musique, a global phenomenon that originated in France in 1982, is a World Music Day celebration that found its way to the Philippines in 1994.

Today, it is arguably one of the most dynamic musical gatherings in the country, evolving from one main stage to now include pocket stages and destination stages across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

As Fête de la Musique marks “The Big 30” this year, there are so many artists, genres, dates, and locations to look forward to! Get ready for a Fête to remember because the 2024 edition of this long-running musical feast is its biggest yet.

Here’s a list of what Metro.Style looks forward to as Fête de la Musique runs from June 16 to June 29!

Experience the healing power of music with the Fête community. On June 16, a sunset gathering will kick off the festivities at the Ayala Triangle Gardens. Focusing on its advocacy, “Music Heals,” the pre-Fête celebration includes a medicine circle, ecstatic dance, and sound bath hosted by Lee Grane Musiq.

Pfel & Greem of C2C graces the Fete PH stage. Keeping to its tradition of French-Filipino cultural exchange, the event brings its biggest French act to date to perform in the country. Catch the award-winning DJs at Mistral in Raffles Makati on June 20 and the Greenbelt Main Stage on June 21.

The Fête de la Musique Main Stage gathers some of the most iconic names in the local music scene in an iconic location. The Greenbelt 3 Park will play host to artists like SHANNi, Jason Dhakal x Lustbass, Sinosikat x Jose Miguel, Dwata, Jewelmer Jazz Band, Any Name’s Okay, Morobeats, Autotelic, and Dilaw the whole of June 21—the day of World Music Day itself.

Learn more about the music industry with Fête de la Musique and SONIK Philippines. In a continuous effort to boost its programs, the SONIK SOIREE is the second edition of the SONIK SESSIONS FETE, which aims to “educate both the business and artist sides of [the] music ecosystem to elevate the entire industry.” Co-presented by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Institut Français, it will be held at the Astbury, followed by an after-party at Boogie MNL on June 22.

Pocket Stages guarantee a good time whatever music genre you’re into. On June 28, the spirited barangay of Poblacion, Makati City will play host to over 41 independently produced, simultaneous pocket stages that will feature hundreds of artists in the Blues, Soul & Funk, Indie, Rock, Latin, Disco, Pun, New Wave genres, to name a few.

20 Destination Stages will also be located across the country. From June 21 to 29, performances are scheduled in Albay, Bacoor, Baguio, Baler, Cagayan de Oro, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Cebu, Davao, El Nido, Laguna, Los Baños, Marikina, Masbate, Naga City, Pampanga, Puerto Galera, Siargao, South Cotabato, and Zambales—totaling almost 70 stages, the largest number yet since Destination Stages were introduced to Fête de la Musique in 2017.
