Editor's Pick: The Best Of The Best Huawei Celebrities VS Photographers Photo Competition

A picture is worth a thousand words, so even looking through the galleries of our smartphones become an exciting exercise in sharing stories. Whether taken in black and white or vibrant color, whether as landscapes, portraits or selfies, photographs will always have a way of resonating with us on a deeper level.

 

So it was particularly exciting to check out the snaps taken by the country’s inimitable photographers and celebrity challengers in Huawei’s Celebrities vs Photographers competition.

 

For this special showdown, the teams traveled across the archipelago, to the mightiest heights of Masungi Geo Reserve (where Catriona Gray and Pat Dy headed for their #SeeSmarter and #SeeCloser challenge) and to the beautiful coast of La Union where Andi Manzano-Reyes and JC Gellidon found endless inspiration for their #SeeMore and #SeeColor challenge. Of course, you don’t have to travel far (as Shaira Luna and Sofia Andres discovered) as the city itself – with all its artful corners and chaotic beauty – becomes an energizing hub that inspires one’s creativity.

 

Just using their Huawei P20 Pro smartphones, the dynamic duos were able to capture the most interesting scenes and subjects in brilliant color and vivid detail. And though some of them weren’t professional photographers, they confidently rose to the challenge as the Huawei P20 Pro, with its triple Leica cameras and advanced AI technology, made it easy for them to take professional quality photos effortlessly.

Going around Manila and capturing photos with a play on light, shadows and texture proves to be a great way to tell a story. Seemingly mundane scenes are given new life when viewed through these fresh perspectives.

 

 

I particularly like the ones that capture low-light scenes, as you’re still able to see the details and textures that are usually not easily captured by phone cameras.

Oftentimes, the best photos are the ones taken in natural light, and this set reinforces that fact. All the vibrant colors and textures are captured, and nature is seen for the beauty that she is.

La Union

 

 

 

The vibrancy of La Union is best captured through the unique perspectives of surf and sand lovers who flock to it. This set of photos shows just how lively the atmosphere is, whether that be a colorful wall or the famous “Elyu” sunset.
