Why "World Of Dance" Is A Celebration Of Filipino Talent
It’s no secret that Filipinos love to sing as proven by the countless singing competitions in (and out of) television. With ABS-CBN’s “World of Dance,” viewers will be able to watch some of the most talented dancers in the country.
Originating from the United States (the show is produced by superstar Jennifer Lopez and hosted by Jenna Dewan.), the Philippine version of the World of Dance airs every Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 P.M. and it is proving to be a crowd favorite. According to Kantar Media, the show dominated in the ratings arena—it is the number one show in both timeslots!
This proves that World of Dance Philippines has indeed captivated Filipino viewers and here’s why:
Every episode is a step to a dream come true
Hopefuls from all over the country bust some dance moves in hopes of fulfilling their dreams. Young or old, aspiring professional dancers are given a shot at stardom. In fact, the grand prize winner of the competition will have the chance to compete in the US version of the show! Each episode of World of Dance could be the beginning of a Cinderella Story, which could be very uplifting to watch and follow.
In an episode of World of Dance, Mr. Pure Energy himself, Gary V., was deeply moved by a contestant with a cleft palate. The contestant, who was bullied as a child, still managed to excel and become an excellent dancer. This struck a chord with Gary V. who said his team’s performance is “short of a masterpiece.” This is such a feel-good story and surely, there will be more like it in the succeeding episodes of the show.
World of Dance gives viewers an idea of what makes a good dance move
For those who get immersed in the World of Dance, the show is a great treasure chest for those who want to learn more about dance. Hosted by Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and Luis Manzano, the contestants who join the show get invaluable feedback by some of the country’s most celebrated dancers.
Dance Princess Maja Salvador, international popstar Billy Crawford, and of course Gary V., share their insights with contestants that will surely help them hone their talent and improve their craft.
The show celebrates Filipino talent
World of Dance Philippines celebrates Filipino talents by giving a platform to those who wish to express themselves through dance. The show helps them find an audience. In addition, World of Dance has world-class Filipino talents as hosts and judges who have represented the country in the international stage.
In fact, Mr. Pure Energy has done the country proud recently when he performed with his daughter, Kiana, at the 23rd Asian Television Awards in Malaysia last week. On an Instagram post, he shared, “Here I go Lord. It’s been a while since I’ve last represented the Philippines in a musical event such as the 23rd Asian Television Awards. What an honor it’s going to be for me and @kianavee.”
