Instagram Reels and Music Launches in the Philippines
Reels allows you to create and edit short-form videos with various tools while Music on Facebook and Instagram lets you connect with artists and music communities you love

Facebook today officially launches Instagram Reels in the Philippines. This new experience gives anyone the ability to create and edit up to 60 second short-form videos and the opportunity to be a creator on a global stage. People can also discover, watch and interact with Reels in a dedicated space in the app.
Be a creator on a global stage with Instagram Reels
With new video editing tools, people can create Reels and share entertaining videos through Instagram Stories, Direct Messages, News Feed and the new Reels tab. With this tab, users in the Philippines will not only be able to share their creativity with the world and have a chance to find a new audience, but also have a dedicated place to discover short-form videos that offer real moments of entertainment and inspiration.
Users in the Philippines can now find Reels on their Instagram camera. You can film videos directly on Reels or use a saved video from their camera roll, and then use the creative tools to freely edit. Reels offers various tools to produce creative and fun videos including:
- Speed: Choose to speed up or slow down part of the video or audio you selected. This can help you stay on a beat or make slow motion videos
- Timer and Countdown: Set the timer to record any of your clips hands-free. Once you press record, you’ll see a 3-2-1 countdown, before recording begins for the amount of time you selected
- Timed Text and Stickers: Add text or stickers at a certain point in your video
- Align: Line up objects from your previous clip before recording your next to help create seamless transitions for moments like outfit changes or adding new friends into your reel
- Touch-Up: Adds an overall smoothing effect to your content and the ability to control the intensity level
“We are continuously listening to and taking inspiration from what our community wants. They’re telling us that in addition to all the ways to share video, they want the opportunity to make and watch short-form, edited videos that entertain and be a creator on a global stage with a bigger and diverse audience. We see Reels as a core part of the future of entertainment on Instagram; and today, we are excited to give people in the Philippines new ways to express their authentic selves through Reels,” said Erin Pettigrew, Product Manager at Reels.
Creating the future of entertainment with Reels and Music
Alongside the launch of Instagram Reels, Facebook recognized how it's platforms and music share something unique in community building and bringing people together, enabling expression and community. As a result, Facebook has announced new ways for people to connect to the artists and music communities they love on their family of apps.
Highlighting the launch as core to the future of entertainment on its family of apps, the platform today rolls out a full suite of music features on both Facebook and Instagram in the Philippines including:
- The expansion of audio library that allows user-generated content with licensed music
- Music stickers on Facebook and Instagram Stories
- Lyrics on Facebook and Instagram Stories
- Music on Facebook Profile
“We bring music into all of the places people already are sharing and connecting. This makes our opportunity with Music even more distinct: we work with our music partners to build social music opportunities for artists, writers, music lovers and people across our family of apps - in particular, Facebook and Instagram,” said Revie Sylviana, Entertainment Partnerships Director, Philippines.
The launch of Music in the Philippines was made possible through a partnership with FILSCAP. “How people listen to and express themselves through music is ever changing in today’s world. Facebook and Instagram music features definitely provide more space for music creators to celebrate their art and express themselves through music,” said Arturo Lui Pio, President of FILSCAP. “We are excited that by partnering with Facebook, music creators will be able to reach more audiences and inspire them with stories told through the art of music. Together, we will continue to support the development and promotion of the Filipino music industry."
People can enjoy full music features on Facebook and Instagram today, October 27, and try Instagram’s Reels and add official hashtag #ReelsPH to their video!
