The country’s 8-member P-pop group just made her-story as the first-ever all Filipina girl group to perform in Coachella.</p><div><br/></div><p><strong></strong>Starting strong in golden warrior looks then transforming into sirens, <strong>Aiah</strong>, <strong>Colet</strong>, <strong>Maloi</strong>, <strong>Gwen</strong>, <strong>Stacey</strong>, <strong>Mikha</strong>, <strong>Jhoanna</strong>, and <strong>Sheena</strong> conquered Coachella&#x27;s Mojave Stage dressed in proudly Filipino-made designer looks. There was a strong intention to present something new—something that evolves their established influence in fashion while still remaining true to their core branding,” says Ica. </p><div><br/></div><p>For Ica and her team, the desert played a crucial role in shaping BINI’s style direction. Light, breathable, and performance-ready materials were an essential. The goal was to introduce a fresh, elevated Filipino aesthetic that feels distinctly BINI, yet undeniably suited for a global stage like Coachella. </p><div><br/></div><p>“As representatives of the Philippines, collaborating with Filipino designers is essential to us. The design team is led by <strong>Marian Zara</strong> and<strong> Raf Villas</strong>, with additional support from <strong>Job Dacon</strong>. The silhouettes begin with a warrior-like armor—structured, commanding—before transitioning into a reveal that softens into contemporary sirens, embodying each element with sensuality and movement,” she continues, “From a craftsmanship perspective, we reinterpreted traditional Filipino materials and techniques through a couture lens.” </p><div><br/></div><p>Elements such as the <em>salakot</em> and <em>banig</em> were deconstructed and elevated, alongside intricate weaving and macramé, to create textures that feel both organic and architectural. The girls also performed &#x27;Shagidi&#x27;, &#x27;Cherry On Top&#x27;, and their newest single, &#x27;Blush&#x27;.</p><div><br/></div><p>To give you a glimpse of how early the planning begin for BINI’s performance outfits, Ica shares a breakdown of their timeline. Conceptualizing began as early as December; by early March, fitting were happening alongside rehearsals; and even until the final preview, the looks were under close refinement. “The addition of a final skirt layer for the closing sequence was a deliberate choice—to end on a striking, almost punctuation-like moment.
