#MetroLuxuryBagWatch: The Louis Vuitton GO-14 Bag

From Heart Evangelista to Ho-yeon, see all the celebs and style stars wearing this new hot bag!

It’s always a wonderful day when a new bag du jour is released. Today, meet the newest ‘It’ bag: the Louis Vuitton GO-14.

While seemingly fresh and new to the eyes, the GO-14 traces its history way back to 2014. The GO-14 is one of Nicolas Ghesquière’s first designs, appearing on the runway for the first time as the Women’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton. This is how the bag got its monicker: Ghesquière October 2014. Fast forward to today, the bag sees a re-imagination with a key characteristic: the malletage.

The malletage celebrates Louis Vuitton’s spirit of historical trunk-making as it is what pads the insides of the trunks. Nicholas literally flipped this silent detail and made it the key feature of his new vision for a bag. “There are some universal codes that exist solely in Louis Vuitton. It was about reappropriating and transposing them into a new setting.” Nicolas Ghesquière on the invisible luxury that is the malletage now the front and centre of the GO-14.

Today, the GO-14 is a plush, modern padded lambskin bag. The exterior is this infinitely soft malletage with overstitching highlighting the design’s curves and cushiony feel. The colorways add to the luxury: from the starkest black and white to the diluted, nuanced, toasted shades that reveal the subtleties of its texture.

Worn on or over the shoulder with a sleek chain, on the arm or handheld—it would fit any mood and any need of today’s on-the-go woman.

The bag is seen on the biggest stars like our very own Heart Evangelista, and Louis Vuitton House Ambassadors Ho-yeon and Alicia Vikander and more.
