New Balance Celebrates Grey Day By Reforging Three Heritage Silhouettes
Here's a quick history on the iconic grey colors of their shoes!
Once a year, New Balance brings out a collection of sneakers as a tribute to its favorite color. Every sneaker brand needs a color that resembles its design philosophy and history. New Balance has grey. Since the ‘80s, New Balance models 990 and 574 have served as status symbols for supermodels in London and dads in Ohio. These pairs have become status symbols, cementing the color grey as the color of sneaker royalty for life. For New Balance, the color grey represents balance and every year they reinforce this uniqueness with a collection called Grey Day.
For this year’s annual Grey Day celebrations, New Balance pays tribute to their signature color way through reforging three heritage models. The best part, all three pairs have met the green leaf standard, meaning at least 50% or more of the materials that were used in the production of these designs are environmentally preferred.
Inspired by the ‘80s and ‘90s, the classic 574 gets a retro-futuristic update called 57/40. Designed with silvery shades and natural-toned accents, this pair is truly a piece of heaven on earth for anyone who adores neutral shades.
If by any chance you have a soft spot for concept cars, the XC-72 might just be for you. This pair brings the past and future to life as it takes inspiration from ‘70s concept cars. See the chunky outsole and elongated heel on this hot ride.
The 327 is a sure treat for sneaker daredevils. It features asymmetric midsoles, wraparound trail outsoles, a forked embellishment on its toe box, and it’s topped with an enlarged logo on the quarter. This pair can make heads turn, need we say less?
The Grey Day 2022 collection can be purchased from the New Balance stores in Powerplant Mall, Glorietta, Trinoma, Cebu, Bonifacio High Street, Alabang Town Center, and Ermita. Cop yours while you still can!
