[WATCH] #MetroMostStylish2020: Iza Calzado On Wearing Only What Works For You
It’s probably the hardest to learn but the best thing that you can do for your style
Dressing up is always a treat for fashion enthusiasts—and Metro favorite Iza Calzado is no stranger to that. But in her journey into honing that sense of style, she stumbled through a very hard fashion lesson: “No everything works on you,” she says. It isn’t easy to tell ourselves but once we give ourselves a good look and be able to say “No!” to some trends or pieces, it’s only then when we’re able to fully embrace what’s right for us.
Iza, for example, loves mixing feminine pieces with her now-signature masculine tones. Her jumpsuits, structured blazers, and oversized pieces speak proportions of her androgyny—a boyish girl as she calls herself. Admittedly, though, “my personality is so different with what works on my body,” she says being the warm and exuberant person that she is. But she’s gotten better at saying that one should “always try on things” to know. Yes, there is a way to enjoy masculinity in clothing but also embrace your all-woman.
We can experiment all we want to know but if there’s one tip we can gain from Iza, it’s that it is in trying that we know fail-safe tricks that can work for us. The best way to master this? “Be honest with yourself,” Iza ends.
