Ever since UNIQLO set up shop here in the Philippines, I know of many who have rejoiced and sworn allegiance to the brand. Whether it’s the pattern, the size specifications, the options made available over a single style of trousers or shirt - it seems that UNIQLO has unlocked the key for the regular Filipino silhouette. This seems to be especially the case when it comes to Men.
Too often, the other Pronto Fashion brands, have some quirk, and we’re left with the right body fit, but sleeves that are too long. Or the jeans fit around the waist; but the rise is too low and we’re left wearing ‘lawlaw’ jeans. There’ll always be some detail that they get wrong; whereas UNIQLO seems to have anticipated all these variations and given us choices that turn out to be ideal.

And while we may not have Winter here in the Philippines, it’s nice to note how this year’s collection is inspired colour-wise by three key lifestyle concepts:
The Great Outdoors, as represented by moss greens and sky reds. Work and Craft, so we get shades of wood, clay and stone, and Abstract Art, via bold and vivid blues, reds and yellows.
There are lines that incorporate the latest technological innovations:
HEATTECH - the ultimate in cold weather innerwear, this absorbs moisture from the body to generate heat, while the fabric’s air pockets retain heat.
AIRism - is back, with silky smooth, cool to the touch innerwear. Jersey, Mesh and Seamless are the three main types.
Ultra Light Down - super warm, yet thin and light. The Seamless Parka is the must buy.
BLOCKTECH - this is high performance outerwear, coats and parkas great for shutting out the rain and wind.
Fleece - colour variations here add new styling options, while providing warmth.
EZY ANKLE PANTS - still the rage and available for both women and men. The new material has anti-microbial and anti-odor properties.
UT - this is UNIQLO’s graphic t-shirt brand, pop culture that you wear. And the additions this season include LOVE & Mickey Mouse Collection by Kate Moross, The Game by NAMCO Museum, the Game by Space Invaders, Studio Sanderson, Boston Katagami, and SPRZ NY - Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
