American Performer Billy Porter Stuns In A Francis Libiran Matador-Inspired Outfit
The category is: red carpet drama! And Billy Porter, Broadway performer and star of the hit FX show Pose, is bringing it fiercely and unapologetically as if he’s off to the ball to vogue. Pose first premiered in June 2018 on FX and began streaming on Netflix in April 2019, skyrocketing Billy Porter to fame and to the red carpet where his grandiose costume couture looks have further minted him as a household name and fashion icon-in-the-making.
Let's rewind to the 2019 Oscars where Billy Porter wore an androgynous black Christian Siriano gown with a bespoke-tux top and Victorian ball gown bottom. We’re not confused by this look, rather we’re fanning ourselves to cool down because Billy Porter set the red carpet on fire. Porter told Vogue, "My goal is to be a walking piece of political art every time I show up. To challenge expectations. What is masculinity? What does that mean?” We don’t know Billy, just give us more of the same, please.
Fast forward to 2019 where Billy Porter was carried into the Met Gala like an Egyptian Pharaoh by 6 shirtless men, wearing nothing but gold and chains. Move over Lady Gaga, it seems you’ve been dethroned by another royal. The theme of the 2019 Met Gala was Camp, and Billy Porter embodied the concept as he was lowered to the ground by his shirtless companions and spread his golden wings like an Egyptian Sun God. It would seem that stealing red carpets was beginning to be a trend for Billy Porter.

Many fans who didn’t catch Pose the first time on FX, treated themselves to a Netflix binge session, some finishing Season 1 in less than 24 hours and eagerly awaiting the premier of Season 2 which premieres on FX this June 11.
The world premiere event for Pose Season 2 took place in New York City on June 5, where Billy Porter left us speechless once again in a Francis Libiran couture gown with an intricately embroidered Art Deco top and a matador-inspired ruffled skirt with a long, black train made of silk duchess satin. The ensemble weighed more than 25 pounds and stretched over 10-feet long on the red carpet, bringing us the drama and androgyny that Billy Porter has become known and loved for and will be sure to live up to on the red carpets to come.
