Bling It On: All The Jewellery Meghan Markle Wore On Her Big Day
We're not done dissecting the Duchess of Sussex's bridal looks, and now we're down to something that makes royal weddings a lot more interesting: All the eye-catching bling! Jewellery is an essential part of bridal fashion, for it adds to the overall impact of an ensemble. Yesterday, we witnessed Meghan in all her bridal glory with a minimalist gown, equally stunning hair and makeup, and the prettiest jewels to complete the look.
Now what makes these pieces of jewellery more interesting are the bits and pieces of trivia that come along with each piece, giving the ensemble more meaning. Meghan's ensemble was nothing short of interesting, despite how simple it may look—a classic example of beauty in restraint.
Wondering what the story is behind each piece of jewellery she wore to the Royal Wedding? Check them out here:
Lent to Meghan by The Queen, this diamond-encrusted bandeau tiara has been in the British Royal Family's jewellery vault for many years now, originally owned by Queen Mary in 1893. According to People, "The palace confirms that the diamond bandeau was a present to the then Princess Mary in 1893 by the County of Lincoln on her marriage to Prince George, Duke of York, who would become King George V. The bandeau and the brooch were passed down by Queen Mary to The Queen in 1953. The queen’s sister Princess Margaret famously wore the piece to events."

A few weeks prior to the wedding, Meghan was already spotted wearing the diamond stud earrings to her public appearances, sparking intrigue among onlookers. Her newly acquired "Galanterie de Cartier" pair was rumored to be her "something new" for the big day, and true enough, it really was! Not one to overdo it in the jewellery department, Meghan went for these subtle sparklers, the perfect complement to an understated look, and the main center of attraction: The aforementioned tiara!

It's so easy to turn all our focus on the blinding tiara and the earrings, but let us not forget the sparkly band on her right wrist, one that turns out to also be from Cartier. The royal family is said to be big fans of the jewellery house, with Kate Middleton wearing a Cartier tiara for her own big day called the "Halo Tiara". Her custom Givenchy bridal gown sleeves were just the right length—a 3/4 sleeve one at that, leaving just enough room for us to see the bracelet!
The Engagement Ring
While it's not customary for a bride to wear her engagement ring together with her wedding band, most brides like the idea of doing so, and Meghan was one to follow suit! She flashed her brand new wedding ring while happily waving to the crowds of Windsor after the church ceremony, to everyone's delight! If you may not know, her engagement ring was personally designed by Prince Harry himself, with the middle diamond coming from Botswana where they fell in love, and the two other smaller diamonds from the late Princess Diana's collection. We've swooned over Meghan's engagement ring countless times in the past, but it would be nice to see it once again:

The Reception Jewels
What's a royal wedding without an oufit change? Meghan surely did not disappoint in a Stella McCartney number, and deciding to match it with Princess Diana's ring as a statement piece was a wise move! While we know that this was also from the late Princess' jewellery collection, it is made a lot more meaningful knowing Prince Harry followed his mom's request of giving her old pieces to his future wife. But wait—this is not the only piece of jewellery the new Duchess wore, for she decided to go with a pair of earrings to perfectly complement that messy 'do and that minimalist white halter gown. This pair is called the "Reflection de Cartier" earrings which appear to be smaller versions of her ceremony bracelet.
With this, we're surely keeping our eyes peeled for all the jewels the Duchess of Sussex is going to wear in the months and years to come. We can't wait!
