Metro.Style: What’s a day like in the life of a celebrity stylist?
Kat Cruz-Villanueva: Never the same, never boring. Even after 17 years of being in the business, each day brings a chance to meet new people and learn new lessons.
MS: How would you describe Heart Evangelista’s style?
KCV: Classic peppered with eclectic. She likes clean and timeless pieces but would sometimes be drawn to bold prints, kitschy pieces, and frou frou.
MS: How is hers in contrast with your own personal style?
KCV: We sometimes find ourselves owning the same pieces, especially the tailored ones. But she puts it together in a more polished way, as I wear mine with a t-shirt and as of late, sneakers (let’s give that to age and having to run around chasing a toddler).

MS: How long have you been styling her??
KCV: We’ve been working together for 8 years.
MS: What’s the best part about being her stylist? ?
KCV: The continuous trust—and being able to play in her closet!
MS: What are some challenges you’ve encountered through the years??
KCV: Conservative boyfriends? Haha! But seriously, not much, mainly because we’re able to communicate well with each other.
MS: What are Heart's favorite fashion brands??
KCV: Lately she’s drawn to Delpozo, Dries Van Noten, Acler, Ulyana Sergeenko, and Carolina Herrera. But staples I would have to say are Dolce & Gabbana, Louboutin, and Hermes. For fast fashion, it’s Zara and Topshop. And for local designers, Mark Bumgarner (of course!), Cheetah Rivera, Joey Samson, and Rhett Eala.
MS: What shows did Heart see during Paris Fashion Week?
KCV: She saw Schiaparelli, Georges Hobeika, Ralph and Russo, Giambattista Valli, Zuhair Murad, and a private viewing with Herve Pierre.
MS: What else was in your itinerary??
KCV: Of course we did the usual—we visited her favorite stores! We also had lunch and a quick chitchat with Michael Coste of Hermès. Next was a dinner hosted by Moda Operandi, then off to the Ralph & Russo party for drinks. We were also lucky enough to catch the Azzedine Alaia exhibit which opened a few days before we arrived.
MS: Can you share her OOTDs throughout the tip? What was your inspiration in coming up with these outfits??
KCV:
Day 1
For Day 1, she donned a Uniqlo turtleneck, a Delpozo pink coat, Topshop jeans, a Tchi Tchi bag, and a pair of Loubutin pumps. This was a last minute decision. She shied away from the coat because she found it too loud, so we decided to balance things out by dressing down with basics.
People have a tendency to dress in dark and dreary hues during winter, so we opted to do the opposite by playing with punches of bright colors and bold patterns. This brought out her warm and playful character.
She later changed into a Carolina Herrera dress, a Valentino Coat, an Hermès bag, and Louboutin pumps.

Day 3
On the third day, Heart was in a Uniqlo turtleneck, a Zara black dress, a Carolina Herrera coat, an Hermès bag, and Louboutin boots.
DAY 4
Finally, Heart hit the streets sporting a Uniqlo turtleneck, a Dries Van Noten white shirt and coat, a Zara faux fur coat, Zara jeans, an Hermès bag, and Louboutin pumps.
MS: What are 3 fashion tips for dressing up for Paris Fashion Week?
KCV: (1) Dress in pretty layers. Though it's often cold outside, it gets pretty warm indoors. Make sure each layer of your outfit is photo-ready—for both indoor and outdoor paparazzi.
(2) Comfort is key: you’ll often be (literally) running from one show to the other, so wear something you can comfortably move in—and a pair of shoes you can sprint with!
(3) Whatever or whoever you wear, don’t forget to finish it off with an extra dose of confidence. PFW is a great way to meet new people and expand your network. You never know who you’ll be sitting (or standing) next to, so always bring your A-game.
MS: What is one item from your own wardrobe that you can’t ever throw away??
KCV: A sleek, well-fitted pantsuit. It’s my version of the LBD!
MS: What is your fashion motto?
KCV: When in doubt, go all out!
