Geolette Esguerra, Metro Editor-in-Chief
“Last year had me paring down my wardrobe while going after colors instead of neutrals. I streamlined my wardrobe with more tailored pieces while maintaining my signature silhouettes. I also managed to wear more sneakers and flats last year; which was a big relief for my usual towering heels. Here are my resolutions for 2019:
1. Incorporate more prints in my wardrobe—from African prints to animal prints, in different colors and permutations. It’s time to let go of my predominantly black wardrobe.
2. Try something new with my hair. Been wearing my beach waves balyage blonde for four seasons now and it’s time for a change! Hairstylist Suyen Salazar suggested a blunt cut a little below the shoulders but let’s see. I might just return to dirty blonde!
3. Shop thoughtfully. I want to be more conscious about what I purchase so I have a pact with myself this year that unless I’m really in love with a piece, I won’t buy it. I’m easily drawn to the thrill of the limited edition and the exclusive but keeping this mantra in mind would help minimize my carbon footprint while opting for quality rather than quantity.”
Kat Cruz-Villanueva, Metro Executive Editor
“This year, I’m investing in more classic, quality pieces that tell the story of a designer or of an era, which of course I can also pass on to my daughter in the future.”
Vania Romoff, Fashion Designer & Metrowear Icon
“Resolve to buy consciously. Invest in pieces that are made to last–less fast fashion, more smart purchases. Also, support locally made fashion!”
Perry Tabora, Celebrity Fashion Stylist
“This year, I won’t be afraid to splurge on classic pieces as these are timeless and can be mixed with seasonal pieces!”
Martine Cajucom-Ho, Sunnies Creative Director
“My fashion resolution is to keep a minimal wardrobe with only pieces I absolutely love.”
