#MetroStyleWatch: The Standout Fashion Moments From Miss Universe 2018
The whole nation is brimming with pride and joy as we are blessed with the fourth Filipina to take home the Miss Universe crown in the form of Catriona Gray. The Miss Universe 2018 pageant was exceptionally thrilling to watch, and to be quite honest, our eyes weren’t simply just locked on our bet; there were lots of style eye candy that kept our fashion appetites satisfied!
From the parade of international stunners in their jaw-dropping evening gowns, to the previous title-holders who were present during the crowning moment, we gathered the noteworthy looks that stood out from the sea of beautiful people that gathered at the IMPACT Arena in Bangkok. Check out the fashion moments you need to see from the Miss Universe coronation night below:
In her Mayon-inspired gown designed by Filipino designer Mak Tumang, Catriona emerged as Miss Universe 2018. Not to be biased, but we think that it was the most show-stopping look of the evening!
Her “lava” gown was a clear stand-out among the silver frocks that the rest of the Top 5 finalists wore.
As Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh got ready to hand over her crown, she chose to don a Swarovski-encrusted (over 100,000 pieces!) form-fitting asymmetrical gown designed by Gert-Johan Coetzee of Project Runway fame.
Our Miss Universe 2015 didn’t miss the chance to support the pageant and showed up in a yellow asymmetrical ruffled dress.
Marta Magdalena Stepien, Miss Canada
The stunning miss Canada may not have gotten past top 10, but she sure did justice to this flawless ballgown designed by our very own Michael Cinco.
Khun Ning Sophida Kanchanarin, Miss Thailand
The Miss Universe 2018 host country's contender Miss Thailand put up a strong fight in the evening gown competition, donning a bejeweled creation by Thai design house ASAVA.
H'Hen Niê, Miss Vietnam
We've gotta admit—the pixie haircut paired with a daring cropped top and wide leg pants look is so refreshing to see on the pageant stage. Kudos to Miss Vietnam for daring to be different!
Tamaryn Green, Miss South Africa
1st Runner Up Tamaryn Green served an Ariana Grande-esque look with her long, high ponytail and sparkly strapless dress with an unusual silhouette. We love that she wore the subtlest jewelry too, which let the gown do the talking!
Francesca Hung, Miss Australia
Francesca caught our eye in that long-sleeved, heavily embellished and crystal encrusted gown by designer ZHIVAGO. We love the fringes and the uneven neckline that made it such a stunning number!
The Miss Universe Sisters
Pia Wurtzbach was joined by fellow title-holders Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere, Miss Universe 2001 Denise Quiñones, Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler, Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova, and Miss Universe 1991 Lupita Jones.
Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler of Venezuela wears a hot pink creation by designer Tawn C.
