Heart Evangelista Wore This All-White Filipiñiana Today And Wow!
We talk to designer Mark Bumgarner on how the look was made for today's SONA
If there’s one more thing we always look forward to every State of the Nation Address, it’s how designers reinvent our humble Filipiñiana, butterfly sleeves, or barot’ saya. This year was no exception as politicians and attendees came out decked in stunning versions of the modernized butterfly sleeves. Of course, Heart Evangelista served as peg on how to do this—as always!
Heart arrived in an all-white look by Filipino designer Mark Bumgarner. It’s pleated on top and embellished on the skirt but over all so crisp and clean, hugging her in all the right places.
The base of Heart’s look, already a stunning piece in the making.
"Heart’s first look is made of pleated gazar and hand stitched individually to create a woven effect," says Mark Bumgarner. "I added a floral inspired minimalist beadwork at the bottom of the dress to add texture to the overall look." And yes, there is a second look coming out later today!
As for accessorizing, a single strand of pearl always works wonders. Her army candy, though, truly modernized there look. When paired with a white Hermès Kelly, it truly is one of the looks of the season.
