Jason Wu’s First Ever Asian Collab to Be Sold in the Philippines

Fashion designer Jason Wu went all over Asia only to lead to the grand reveal of his exclusive collaboration with online fashion giant Zalora. His subsidiary brand GREY Jason Wu is set to co-design a bag targeted mainly on this new market he has eyes on.

Metro was first in on the details at its exclusive launch in Kuala Lumpur. The mystery bag is still under wraps but this global partnership with Malaysian bag specialist Sometime by Asian Designers has already hit the ground running. The bag, to be sold exclusively in Zalora, will feature multi-colored details in two sizes: a tote and mini version.

Consider it a homecoming of some sort, the Taiwanese-born, New York-based designer is excited to do a first for his “off-duty” line GREY Jason Wu. “I love collaborations,” he said at the event. In his tenure as a designer, most of his collaborative undertaking were in the US and Europe. A few of which were a jewelry capsule with Swarovski and a shoe collection for Melissa. “Part of my goal [in] the next phase of my career is to do much more in my home. And that is in Asia.”

It couldn’t have come at a better time. Zalora, in conjunction with its 6^th year as an online fashion destination in the region, is proud to carry this unisex design. “Jason sees collaborations as a way to diversify his creative genius,” says Christopher Daguimol, Group Director of PR and Social Media for Zalora. The stars are aligned for this exciting collaboration.

"What I hope in the next few years is for designers and fellow Asian companies to come into prominence globally because everybody knows we [Asians] know how to buy bags, but what they don't know is we know how to make and design bags," Jason said.

The bag is up for grabs this coming June and to be sold exclusively at Zalora Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and, of course, the Philippines.
