EXCLUSIVE: Kim Chiu Reveals What She'll Be Wearing To The ABS-CBN Ball
Kim Chiu is a pro when it comes to red carpet dressing. Her many years in showbiz have helped her discover her signature fashion sense with her outfits at the annual Ball: feminine, dainty, and subtly sexy.

Kim Chiu has been gracing the Ball since this annual event was launched in 2007, fresh from her Pinoy Big Brother victory. Over the years, she established herself as a style star who would prefer the subdued appeal of whites, creams, ecrus, champagnes, and beiges as well as the extravagance that would come from intricate beadwork, lavish frills, and heavy embellishments.
While she had been opting for figure-hugging gowns, she wowed in 2013, when she turned up in an attention-grabbing ball gown by the late Pepsi Herrera that emphasized her petite frame. Such is the charm of Kim as a fashionista—when you least expect it and when you feel like you know what she would end up wearing, she would go towards the other direction, to surprise and certainly impress; take, for example, her dramatic black and nude cape gown by fashion designer Val Taguba in 2016.

Her being consistent in best-dressed lists from the Ball now begs this question: what else can she offer that we haven't seen yet? Kim's friend and fashion stylist Patty Yap confidently said that her look for the upcoming ABS-CBN Ball this Saturday can be summarized in one word: "Bongga!"
Patty added that it's the first time Kim will wear a creation by this well-renowned fashion designer, and that Kim is his only muse at the ABS-CBN Ball—that fact alone is enough to make us all the more excited.
Since Kim has been working with Patty for a long time, she trusts Patty's taste and aesthetic. "Sabi lang sa'kin ni Kim, 'ikaw na bahala,'" Patty shares. With this, the stylist worked closely with the designer to come up with sketches for Kim's comments and approval. The result of their collaboration is a gown that will showcase Kim's back and leg.
Earlier today, we caught up with Kim and Patty during their gown fitting, where the beautiful actress donned a classic black strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and a high slit.

Since Kim's gown is yet to be completed, we are still expecting a dramatic spin to the timelessly stylish creation we're seeing here. Regarding the finishing touches, Patty hinted that the gown will end up being "makinang, shiny, and sparkling."
Kim said that there was no specific style or silhouette she required for this year's Ball—all she wanted was to finally model one of this famous designer's gowns. "I'm very excited that he said 'yes' to creating my gown. This is my dream gown," Kim says.
To give further clue as to how the final gown will look like, Kim told Metro.Style, "It's something I love. I love butterflies. I love ball gowns. My previous looks at the Ball were more on whites, so now, I’d go for a darker one."
