The Met Gala Was A Sea Of Pink. Here's Why
Just three days ago, Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour told The Today Show that this year's Met Gala red carpet "might not be red." She didn't reveal what color it would be, but she did give a hint when she said "you just have to think about camp".
While glitters definitely came to mind, today we found out that in lieu of a red carpet, they opted to go with pink, and for good reason: pink is a color closely associated to play and the pretend world—think Barbie dolls and the entire mood that comes along with it!
Check out Anna Wintour giving hints about the Met Gala in this video below:
In a nutshell, Anna shared that Camp is all about "everything that's artificial, fake, and not really what you think it means." And pink, a color that's not to be taken too seriously, set the tone for yet another memorable Met Gala fashion parade. Lined with pink roses on both sides, the steps of the Met Museum transformed into some form of Barbie-like world, where celebrities and fashion personalities played pretend in their couture-worthy "campy" ensembles.
