#MetroStyleWatch: Best-Dressed At Wimbledon 2018
As the oldest tennis tournament in the world, with a 141 years-history to boast, Wimbledon is easily one of the most prestigious sporting events ever. And by “prestige”, we don’t just mean the fan base of the sport, but also the social gathering. Every year, hundreds of attendants, including royals and celebrities, flock to the tennis stands at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, in their best smart-casual wear to watch the intense competition. But unlike other sporting events, Wimbledon spectators are often put in more fashion scrutiny, mostly because the tournament does impose dress codes on players and spectators.
Generally, the Wimbledon dress code requires spectators to come in their best smart-casuals. Traditionally, men were expected to wear ties, although that has been relaxed requirement over the years. Regardless, tailored suits are highly encouraged. Likewise, women are expected to dress impeccably; nothing too short, too tight, or too vulgar—just a relaxed, but chic attire. The rules are broad for sure, which is perhaps why so many attendants partake to play along.
So, who gets our nod of approval for the Wimbledon 2018? Find out below:
Kicking-off with the royal fashion icon, the Duchess of Cambridge attended both days in a stunning yet casual dress. Starting with a polka-dot Jenny Peckham dress, then a cheery Dolce & Gabbana yellow piece the next.
Another hotly scrutinized royal fashion icon, the Duchess of Sussex manages to stand out next to the stunning Kate Middleton, by wearing a chic Ralph Lauren combination of a crisp striped blouse and flowy white pants.
Not to be outdone by royals, British actress Emma Watson graces her way into Wimbledon wearing a stunning 3-piece suit by Ralph Lauren, and later a vintage beige dress shirt.
Eddie Redmayne in a blue double-breasted suit sets the tone for fine tailoring dresscode at Wimbledon. Next to him, his wife Hannah wears a Valentino dress.
Not too far behind, Tom Hiddleston is practically twinning with Eddie in this blue double-breasted suit as well. Both dappers keep it traditional by wearing a tie to go with the suit, too.
Thanks to his light and beige Ralph Lauren ensemble, Luke Evans is easy to spot amidst dark suits, also opting to be a bit more liberal and lose the tie.
