Bollywood meets Hollywood! Following a whirlwind romance, Indian actress Priyanka Chopra and American singer-songwriter Nick Jonas officially tied the knot last weekend in a multi-day wedding held in India. The celebrity couple, who got engaged earlier this year after publicly dating for a few months, shared that it was important to them to merge their two cultures. "One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other's faiths and cultures," wrote the happy couple on Instagram. "Planning our amalgamation of both was amazing." Indeed, there was no shortage of embellished, multi-colored outfits last weekend—all of which paid tribute to India's rich heritage and culture.

Sangeet Ceremony
Priyanka and Nick kicked off their wedding weekend with a sangeet. The ceremony, which translates to ‘sung together’, is a pre-wedding ritual where the bride and groom's relatives and friends perform song and dance numbers to commemorate the festivities.
"It all began as a fierce song & dance competition between the familes, but ended as a huge celebration of love," captioned Priyanka on an Instagram post. "Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening)..to see what each side had put together."
According to E! News, two teams performed their own Bollywood-worthy interpretations of how the lovers met. "We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love, and the laughter. We will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives," said the actress.
While Priyanka and her bridal squad performed 'In My City', Nick sang Bollywood song 'Bom Giggy' with his groomsmen.
The bride-to-be donned a lavish, fully hand embroidered sari by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, one of the most coveted luxury design houses in India. Topping off her look were fine jewelry from SABOO by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.
Mehendi Wedding Ceremony
Another traditional pre-wedding ceremony is the Mehendi, where henna tattoos are drawn on the bride's hands and feet. According to ancient tradition, the deeper the color of the bride's mehndi, the happies the couple will be. "An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi," wrote Priyanka on Instgram. "Once again, we made it our own, and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed."
For the special occasion, the bride donned yet another Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla creation. "Priyanka is a vision in a fabulously folksy, multi-hued organdy ensemble inspired by a vintage AJSK [Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla] collection," revealed the designer on Instagram. She was also adorned with an heirloom piece from the same luxury line—very fine rubies that were collected over generations.
Christian Wedding
The couple's Christian wedding took place last Sunday at Umaid Bhawan Palace, which rents at $60K a night—reports claim that Nick Jonas' father, a pastor, officiated the ceremony. The Bollywood actress walked down the aisle in a custom Ralph Lauren, the same label the couple wore to the 2017 MET Gala.
Her stunning, intricate tulle bridal dress not only featured hand-embroidered floral details and 2,380,000 mother of pearl sequins—but it also boasted of a gorgeous 75-foot tulle veil. According to People, her long-sleeved dress also featured a portion of her mother-in-law Denise Jonas' wedding gown from 1985. To turn things extra special, sentimental messages were also sewn into the masterpiece. Some of the phrases included were "Nicholas Jerry Jonas" (her husband's full name), "1st December, 2018" (their wedding day), "Madhu & Ashok" (the name of her parents), and "Family", "Compassion", and "Love".

Hindu Ceremony
Priyanka later changed into a deep red lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. According to the designer, it took 110 embroiders and 3,720 hours to create this modern masterpiece. The custom dress featured hand-embroidered and hand-cut orgnaza flowers, French knots in silk floss, and delicate Siam-red crystals. Her wedding jewelry pieces were just as extravagant as her dress—Priyanka donned uncut diamonds, emeralds, and Japanese cultured pearls in 22K gold. What a style statement!
Indeed, the couple's beautiful wedding perfectly merged different cultures, beliefs, and families—all in celebration of hope and love. Congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds!
