This Is What’s It Like Being Part Of Kathryn Bernardo’s Glam Team, According To Her Fashion Stylists
From child celebrity, to teen queen, to box office actress, Kathryn Bernardo is undoubtedly one of the brightest stars of her generation. With the help of her talented glam team, the Queen of Hearts went through a major transformation from teenage superstar to sophisticated woman, turning each red carpet appearance a memorable style statement. Her stylists, Kimi and Boop Yap, are two of the most prominent celebrity stylists—a fitting duo for a celebrity sensation like her.
The power team and the award-winning actress first met a couple of years ago, back when Kathryn was looking for a glam team. “Nandun ako sa stage na I wanted to try something different, something na mas ako,” the Star Magic actress tells Star Studio Magazine. “They were my first choice...we both like the same looks. They understand me.”
“Before we handled her, Kathryn’s look was ‘teen superstar’. But of course, through the years, her fans grow up with her, so we can’t just limit her looks to sweet or edgy all the time,” Kimi and Boop share. In coming up with different looks, they make sure that Kathryn's fans will be able to see different sides of the versatile actress. “Right now, we’re trying looks that are sexy but still classy."

1. They have a chat group!
The Queen of Hearts is very hands on with her looks—they even created their own chat group together! “Whenever any of us finds a certain peg that we think will match Kathryn’s personality, we send it to each other and exchange opinions and comments. Then, we will choose a designer who can execute those looks,” quips Boop.
2. Kimi and Boop know everything inside Kathryn’s wardrobe.
Whether off to the mall, to a dinner, or even to the airport, Kathryn sends them a photo in their group chat for fashion consultation. “I ask them kung anong shoes gagamitin kasi memorize na nila gamit ko,” Kathryn shares. “Sometimes, they even pack my clothes for me when I travel. They put my clothes in ziplocks, with pictures of what shoes and accessories to match my outfits with. Even on normal days, I like asking for their approval.”
3. Coming up with different looks takes lots of research.
The stylish duo makes sure that Kathryn is first in setting trends—but this of course, requires tons of research. “Sobra akong ma-research. Feeling ko kasi pag nasuot na ng iba, wag mo nang suotin,” shares Kimi.
Now that she’s matured, Kathryn Bernardo shares that she is more willing to try different looks and styles. “Before, hindi ako nag-eextensions, pero tiniwala ko sa hairstylist ko. Hindi rin ako nag-eearings nang mahaba, pero dumating na ako sa point na nag-grow up na ako and naghahanap na ako ng iba naman,” the actress shares
4. They invest in these three wardrobe essentials.
Glamorous red carpet looks aside, Kathryn’s favorite trend is laid-back chic. “Yung parang nag-effort ka pero hindi masyadong dressy!” explains the Star Magic actress. To add a special twist to “ordinary outfits”, Kimi shares their three fashion investments: heels, boots, and belts.
5. This is their favorite silhouette.
“Kath has long legs, so she looks great wearing pants. We also like long dresses and gowns on her,” Boop shares. Kimi adds that they also love making Kathryn wear backless tops and dresses. Kathryn also quips that she likes creating balance when she dresses up. “Yung may hint of sexiness lang. If I wear a backless top, I like wearing long pants.”
6. Style Mantra
More than making Kathryn look beautiful every single time, Kimi and Boop promise to come up with looks that fans can take inspiration from and recreate. “We don’t want her looks to be predictable; we want fans to be on the edge of their seats thinking ‘What is she going to wear?’
