This Is What Our Go-To Fashion Girls Are ‘Really’ Doing This Lockdown

Tricia, Vern, Cath, and Alyssa spills their favorite past times, literally anything to keep their creative juices flowing!

With almost another month more into enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), there’s nothing much to do but to literally hang in tight—but stylishly!  We've scoured our homes and even the internet to keep us busy during these deafening times of isolation. Thankfully, our most stylish bunch: Tricia Gosingtian, Vern Enciso, Cath Sobrevega, and Alyssa Gibbs share a roster of things to do and a list of fashion films to binge watch!

Truly this is the time to relearn and refresh our senses with women that can inspire and heal us from all the negativity or troubling stories that we are in the midst of. It’s time to skip the sulking and make the most out of our situation, just like theybdo! For some it might be discovering recipes, delving into arts and crafts, or even trying new things like learning mechanics (why not!) but for us hardcore fashion girls, we’re diving in head first into design masterclasses, upcycling, or DIY sessions, relearning from books, flipping through fashion archives, and even binge watching the most iconic fashion films ever.

Scroll down to see what our favorite fashion girls are up to and learn a thing or two about these style experts:

Alyssa Gibbs

Aside from decluttering and keeping it up to par like always, Neon Island’s tastemaker is busy with jewellery making, painting, and Tiktok. Yes, you heard that right, Alyssa likes to keep it productive but saves enough time to let loose on Tiktok! With her ever beaming Instagram feed, she also lives a life full of art. As a creative entrepreneur, she keeps her creative juices flowing over arts and crafts. She recommends Kelly Wearstlers’ masterclass for both fashion and interior design connoisseurs.

On films, she recently revisited iconic fashion moments from West Side Story, Romeo + Juliet, and Moulin Rouge. She shares a deep appreciation for the film’s color story and how much it brings forth the narrative and era where the film took place. When we asked her the first thing she’ll wear after the lockdown (just for the fun of it!), Alyssa answers enthusiastically “Been thinking about this actually! Will throw on my silk floral slip dress and chunky sandals. It’s summer!” We couldn’t agree more, if there’s one thing that can keep us going, it would be the amount of outfits we will be wearing back-to-back after this pandemic.

Hang in there, we got this! xx Day 26

Cath is making the most out of the ECQ with her new found love for cooking. The stellar star stylist is busy juggling two free online classes from MOMA and Harvard. She is currently taking up Fashion as Design and Science & Cooking. Talk about doing something worthwhile! Apart from sharpening her skills, Cath is also taking her time to create progress for Closet by Cath, a platform where she can sell most of the pieces from her fashion archives which were worn by her clients. She wants to put each garment to good use and most of all, to encourage every fashion consumer to gravitate towards genuine sustainability.

Cath believes that “Now, more than ever is the time for us to be proactive about creating small moments of happiness. A little self-care goes a long way to keep us both physically and mentally healthy, so that we are in a better position to help others out.” This speaks true to what we are trying to point across. In these tough times, we must keep each other afloat!

Speaking of uplifting others, Cath recommends you to watch The Talented Mr. Ripley. Up until now, Cath is swooning over the laid back resort looks even after 20 years of its release. From a fashion girl to another, trust that this style escape is worth to share with your best friends! Oh and did we mention that Cath is more than ready to bling out in her Nami pieces after the lockdown? Yes! We do miss accessorising too.

Vern Enciso

Style mogul Vern is on social media detox and is busy catching fresh inspirations from fashion films. She shares that she has recently rewatched Mad Men and a couple of films starring the fashion icon herself, Audrey Hepburn. Vern is completely inspired by this era and is more than excited to recreate the most iconic outfits from these films with a modern twist. We cannot agree more about the fact that Vern thinks that these ensembles serves a bare breather from today’s maximalist fashion trends.

Just like us, Vern is taking all of her special day clothes out for a spin the moment the ECQ is lifted. You have to admit you have those kinds of moments too, where you save up an outfit or two for special occasions! With almost two months in isolation, I guess you can say we are head-over-heels for our next style venture once this is over.

I feel like rambling today. 🙃 ⁣ ⁣ Something as simple as documenting my pregnancy OOTDs has been helping me a lot with my self image. This has been such a huge part of my life, and I’m so glad I am able to include my baby in my routines somehow. Dressing up (and showing up!) became a challenge that I looked forward to every week, and seeing my body transform everyday normalized change. It made me feel like I can take on anything and everything. Kaya ko pala if kakayanin, one day at a time! Small but wholehearted efforts at my own pace, and in my own capacity (like no pressure fully-clothed bump pics and no TMI posts because this has always been me and my style). ⁣🌱 ⁣ This is what they call true love, I guess. 🥰 I sometimes find myself crying happy tears when I touch my tummy and feel the baby’s kicks. I can’t believe I missed out on this magic when I was super depressed x number of years ago. But I know it had to happen so there could be more meaning in how I see the world now. ❤️⁣ ⁣ If this is going to be the height of my weight gain and all the crazy hormone-related face/body/mood changes, then it should only get better once the baby is out! I know I can be even better when the time comes. The physical is only secondary. I’d rather document the process openly as it goes along than hide it and end up trying so hard to go back to my pre-pregnancy self. Because I’m never going to be that girl anymore. This baby has changed me mind, body, heart, and soul. Grateful for this journey! Thank you. This process has been humbling and truly, truly amazing! ✨⁣ ⁣ (I have not given birth yet, btw! More like I’m the one being reborn.) 👶🏻🙏🏻 ⁣ ⁣ #33weeks (last week) #maternityTG

Tricia was towards the end of her pregnancy when the ECQ started and thankfully the Baby Leo came out full term and healthy! Although she likes to keep it laid-back after Baby Leo’s arrival, the chicest mom in town is not taking a day off from fashion. Her Instagram posts best captures her postpartum ensembles and ultra cute OOTDs from Baby Leo himself. In between playing video games and watching the news, Tricia has been binge watching Funny Face starring Audrey Hepburn, a true classic.

When we asked her what she will be wearing after the lockdown, Tricia cheerfully answers "Definitely a Hinhin dress!" We're definitely picking our favorite day dresses out right after the lockdown because there's no way we're skipping summer this year.
