See The BoF 500 Gala And The Top Stars Who Graced It

A look into the celebration of the 500 names defining the fashion industry today, especially those from Asia

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of Fashion Week, Paris found its new epicenter of the day: the Business of Fashion (BoF) 500 Gala. From across the globe, celebrities and fashion figures flocked to the Shangri-La Hotel in their PFW best as they gathered to celebrate the most relevant names shaping the fashion industry today.

Each year, the Business of Fashion curates a definitive list of the 500 most influential names defining the fashion industry. Headed by founder Imran Amed, the index began in 2013 and has since cultivated an impressive roster of names encompassing the worlds of fashion, music, film, and the in-between. Though having already curated an extensive list from previous years, the BoF team highlighted the ever-changing, constantly expanding nature of modern fashion as it added 100 new entrants to the index for its Class of 2024. Ranging from designers, executives, media, retailers, entrepreneurs, creative class, models and muses, and catalysts, the BoF team meticulously handpicked each name following a research process that involved market data and nominations from existing BoF 500 members.

Bright from Thailand was also an honoree of this year's list

Dubbed the “Fashion Industry Olympics” by Amed himself, this seemingly competitive event is actually a telling testament to the unique diversity of fashion. This year, BoF reports names from 37 different nationalities across 26 countries—a feat further amplified by the recognition of new entrant countries, adding to the growing index year by year.

Bringing this closer to home, a number of Asian names found their place in the Class of 2024. New entrants include Past Lives star and Loewe ambassador Greta Lee and Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh. Fan-favorite Thai star Bright also made the cut with his impact as a global fashion muse. In the beauty department, makeup artists Sam Visser (who is part-Indonesian) and Japan-born Hiromi Ueda earned membership status on BoF’s index.

Heart Evangelista was also present at the event

Though the Philippines may not have been represented in 2024, 3 names have already made it to the index in the past years. Blogger turned influencer Bryan Yambao (also known as BryanBoy) became a member in 2013 alongside fashion media luminary Stephen Gan. The two were then followed by H&F Retail Concepts’ Mark “Jappy” Gonzales in 2017.

Several globally-recognized Filipino fashion shapers were also in attendance at BoF’s highly anticipated night. Fashion week favorite Heart Evangelista graced the red carpet in a Michael Leyva dress. The in-demand Pia Wurtzbach also made an appearance in a Fendi and Bulgari ensemble. Filipino-born Chief Brand Officer of Revolve’s Raissa Gerona was also present at the gala.

With these promising names, we look forward with much anticipation to seeing the Philippines once again in the BoF 500.
