There is a new theme in luxury fashion where it now dabbles in the world of sports. It’s not just sportswear, per se, but making actual presence with athletes and actual sporting events. Most recently, Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner made a sartorial history-making statement at a Wimbledon match by sporting a cusotm monogram Gucci duffle bag. The bag features the signatrure GG monogram and Web straps, customized with his initials 'J.S.'
The move is said to be history-making as the Gucci duffle bag is the first high-end bag to ever be brought to court. It didn’t happen easily as Wimbledon is highly steeped in tradition especially with their ‘predominantly white’ uniform. Approvals from All England Club bosses and the ATP Tour were needed to have this moment happen.
While the duffle bag is customized for the 21-year-old athlete, the design will be available for Fall/Winter 2023. We can’t wait to see more exciting bags to come out of this merging of luxury and sports!
