#MyStyleIndoors: Marie Lozano On How Our Workout Clothes Make Great House Clothes, Too!

Leave all your athleisure concerns and curiosities to this stylish pro!

We’re officially in the last quarter of the year so it's the last few months to make it count! We all have seen the good and bad in all of us during the six full months of isolation we spent indoors but it’s not too late to change or upgrade our lifestyle month after month. We’re taking our living areas by storm with athleisure pieces that will inspire us to work even harder for the next three months.

The hardest working items in our closet these days may be our athleisure pieces. And if you’re still having trouble fine-tuning your athleticwear line-up for the week or for the rest of the year, leave it all to Marie Lozano! The lifestyle journalist of ANC and Metro Most Stylish darling is raising the bar on chic athleticwear as house clothes. Her impressive collection of athleisure must-haves will make you want to consciously upgrade your wardrobe, too.

In this Metro exclusive, we asked Marie her favorite at-home athleisure must-haves, style tips, and shopping hacks. With no-fail, she gave us a list full of multi-functional, high-performance, and body-/booty-hugging pieces.

Her three at-home athleisure must-haves has got to be “A flattering and good fitting pair of high waisted yoga pants—meaning they should stay put, not press, squeeze or leave marks on you body. I am obsessed with Alo Yoga and Lululemon’s yoga pants,” says Marie. And when it comes to comfortable sports bras, “I choose ones that double as a crop top. I wear the ones with more support for high-intensity workouts. My favorites come from an Australian brand called Lorna Jane, and local brands Charma and Rosanna Ocampo’s Le Weekend.” Last but not the least, Marie expounds her love for cropped pullovers or cropped tops. “I use them to layer on top of my sports bras whenever I feel cold or need to quickly run out of the house. I have cute and cozy ones from Alo Yoga and Lululemon,” she continueas.

On top of her already existing must-haves, she also swears by monochromatic pairs that elongate her body. “I have a ton of white workout clothes and I like that I can still look somewhat clean no matter how sweaty or gross I get,” she says. And what’s not to love about monochrome and high-grade athleisure-wear when they already come in pairs?

For her, the key to perfecting that look-good-feel-good experience is not only with aesthetic but with also having an adequate know-how on the materials and fabrics your pieces are made of. “I am obsessed with Lululemon’s luxtreme fabric, it’s sweat-wicking and it feels soft and cool to the touch—almost like second skin! Alosoft from Alo Yoga is really good too. I'm not sure of each piece's particulars but I am sure of the fine research and development that goes through each piece,” says Marie.

At the end of the day, it’s important to be familiar with what your clothes are made of. No matter how much it looks good on Instagram, it’s always a must to invest on pieces that will last long and work as hard as you do. Buying workout clothes can be tricky but like Marie, do keep in mind that you can always read up on reviews and ask your friends for recommendations! Marie believes that “Fit is crucial,” and we couldn’t agree more.
