The Highlights of Ternocon 3 At Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo

See how these mentors promoted Philippine design during the S/S24 runway show!

Last August 30, Terncon 3 mentors Dennis Lustico, Chito Vijandre and Ricky Toledo, and Joey Samson presented their collections at the Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo S/S 2024.

The show was held at the Shibuya Hikarie Hall A and each of the designers were able to stun the audience with their pieces during the “Bench Presents Ternocon'' segment. In line with Ternocon 3’s initial theme, the various designers took their terno inspiration from the classic balintawak. Their overall goal to create an elevated and modernized look was clearly seen at the show.

The first collection to walk down the runway was that of Dennis Lustico who took influence from the various views of nature seen during his trips to different Philippine provinces. Joey Samson followed with a collection highlighting the hues of ecru, black, and white with a Melvin Mojica soundscape creation playing in the background. The segment ended with the eccentric colorful creations of  Chito Vijandre and Ricky Toledo.

The entire event consisting of Philippine design being shown at an international level truly asserted Bench’s path towards the promotion of Filipino identity. In the gallery below, we have collected the highlights of each of the designer’s collections. Take a look and tell us which pieces you want to wear the most!
