This Edgy Take On The One-Shoulder Trend Turned Heads At The Panasonic Manila Fashion Festival
Meet the one-shoulder trend's edgier cousin.
While asymmetrical dresses have been around for quite some time, we'd like to think they're having a major fashion revival. In fact, celebrities and style icons have started getting on board the trend this year—who can ever forget Kathryn Bernardo in a classy Jun Escario piece at the ABS-CBN Ball?
The Panasonic Manila Fashion Festival Season 9 further proves our point, as single sleeve dresses dominated the runway. Veteran designer Jun Escario kept everything romantic with cut-out silhouettes and drapes that elegantly accentuated feminine curves. On the other hand, Chris Nick, whose collection was inspired by the disco era of the '70s, made use of shoulder pads and metallic chains, injecting his interpretation of modern meets retro into his creations. Finally, Steph Tan's statement piece incorporated the best of both worlds: an edgy, form-fitting pantsuit with a semi-sultry cut, exposing a crystal-embellished bandeau underneath. So chic!
There's no denying that this edgy take on the one-shoulder trend is a head-turning silhouette—and frankly, we can't wait to see more of it next season.
