… Even if it’s just to watch!

As the very first fashion week on the calendar (whilst we’re still recovering from the holiday lull), Haute Couture week has its way of jolting the fashion community back from dormancy; and in a way, we use view it as a makeshift forecast into the year as far as fashion goes. And wow, did this Haute Couture week get us excited for 2019!

Long skirts and gowns (although not necessarily voluminous), bows, capes, deeply rich colors and a whole lot of sass paraded the runway; there’s definitely a dream-like quality to the haute couture this season. It is a breath of fresh air in some way. While we’re not necessarily sad about the dominance of street style and pop-culture apparel in 2018, a dose of unapologetic flounce serves a reminder that fashion always has an occupation in fantasy—not just day-to-day grit.
