In celebration of Philippine fashion, Metro Magazine presented its 15th Metrowear show featuring the youngest Metrowear Icon yet—31-year-old, Cebu-born designer Vania Romoff. Held last November 22 at The Fifth, Power Plant Mall, the annual fashion event welcomed celebrities, designers, stylists, society personalities, and industry leaders for one stylish evening.

In an exclusive interview with Metro.Style, the designer-of-the-evening shared the story behind her feminine 60-piece collection—a venture that took her three months to create. Keep scrolling for more!

EXCLUSIVE: This Cebu-Born Designer Is This Year's Metrowear Icon—And Her Fashion Journey Will Inspire You

The strength in being a woman

Inspiration struck Vania when she began observing her toddler Emilia in one of her dance rehearsals. “I was inspired by ballerinas—the combination of grace and strength, and the way they dance with the beauty and the flow of everything [around them].” True enough, this breathtaking collection featured elegant, powerful pieces influenced by romance. "[These] echo sensuality and femininity, and always remain classic," Vania quipped.

Entering ten years in the industry, Vania worked her way into the fashion world through sweat and grit. Despite growing up in a family of fashion designers, Vania wanted to create a name for herself—in her early twenties, she left her hometown to chase after dreams. Today, she's attained celebrity status, and is now known for her trademark aesthetic—a mix of romance and ease. Her signature creations reflect vintage-inspired silhouettes, peppered with a youthful touch.

“A Vania Romoff muse is strong, empowered, and always inspired,” the designer quipped. “She isn’t afraid to show her femininity—I feel like there’s strength in claiming that.”

A Different Side of Vania

Aside from featuring her classic pieces, this year’s Metrowear also showed a different side of Vania Romoff. “This collection is all about beautiful clothes and what I know I do best—reiterations of my favorite designs, refining my favorite shapes and silhouettes, and presenting them in a new light,” she shared.

The designer also admitted to pushing herself in terms of fabrication. Using materials like leather, taffeta, tulle, and even knitwear, Vania reinvented her classics by trying something new, but still making it her own. “I stepped out of my comfort zone, but everything was still true. It was different in a way that I’ll try to tweak some of the things I love and present something fresh for my audience—but at the same time, I kept my clients and muses in mind, catering to their aesthetic."

Take a look at her beautiful collection below. Congratulations, Vania! Cheers to 15 years of Metrowear!
