6 Fashionable Products That Aim To Give Back With Every Purchase
The need to be wise, conscious spenders is at an all-time high. Left and right, we hear about companies and brands rethinking their strategies, and bringing their causes to the forefront, to shed light on social responsibility and address the impact their brand has to the people and on our planet.
Whether it's letting go of plastic straws to help alleviate the problem of single-use plastic or accepting donations for 2nd hand clothing to produce eco-conscious, upcycled pieces—seemingly small efforts truly make for great change! Simply caring and giving a damn, as well as getting educated on issues bigger than ourselves truly pays. It simply is the right thing to do.
Here, we put together a couple of brand campaigns and products proudly created to support specific worthy causes spanning women's rights, sustainability, and even the LGBTQ+ community, for you to consider on your next shopping spree. Remember, every time you spend gives you the chance to either support a cause, or further the problem, so think well, and think hard!
1. Support the LGBTQ+ Community: Michael Kors' #MKGO Rainbow Capsule
Pride Month may have come to an end, but for our friends in the LGBTQ+ community, the fight continues, and the cause to alleviate inequality on many levels goes on. With Michael Kors' capsule collection especially created for the cause, for every #MKGO Rainbow Pride t-shirt sold, Michael Kors will donate 100% of profits to God's Love We Deliver—a non-profit organization and longstanding pillar of the LGBTQ+ community. This org cooks and delivers 1.8 million meals annually to those too sick to shop or cook for themselves throughout NYC. At Greenbelt 5, Central Square, Newport Mall, Power Plant Mall, Rustan's Makati, Shangri-La Plaza Mall
“God’s Love We Deliver has always been near and dear to my heart,” says Michael Kors. “During the ’80s, when the HIV/AIDS epidemic was raging through New York City, they were one of the first organizations to be there for the gay community. It’s an honor to donate to them today through sales of the #MKGO Rainbow Pride T-shirt.”

5. Support young designers who care about the future of the planet: 42 Degrees, A Sustainable Collection by Salvatore Ferragamo
Flavia Corridori and Luciano Dimotta, two young Italian designers from Salvatore Ferragamo conceived this capsule collection of sneakers and bags. This is the result of the brand's internal competition with the theme "creating accessories with sustainable materials and consistently with the iconic style of the brand."
The collection was inspired by the brand's historical archive and from an iconic sandal, Rainbow, a model of 1938 with rainbow colors. Dubbed 42 Degrees, the collection is named after the 42nd degree, the height of the sun that makes this extraordinary optical phenomenon visible.
"The ribbon, the distinctive element of the collection, is made of shuttle fabric, dyed with a system that allows lower levels of consumption of water, fossil fuel and chemicals. It is made with a yarn obtained from an exclusive high-tech polymer, which, thanks to a mechanical and non-chemical process, transforms 100% of plastic bottles, saving water and energy and ensuring lower carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional polyester. The capsule backpack too has been realized with this material."
