Through the years, the stars and their glam teams have underlined the importance of creating a red carpet moment with timeless appeal—one that will continue to resonate beyond each passing ball. But with this year's ball having no specific theme, will the stars opt for riskier, unexpected looks? Or will they choose to stay along the classic lane? We will have to patiently wait and see.

In excitement, we talked to the Metro Magazine editors about what they predict the stars will wear. These style insiders weigh in on the top fashion trends, to the most stunning beauty looks. Scroll further to find out more!

Geolette Esguerra, Metro Editor-in-Chief

“I’m expecting a lot of unique color finishes and variations on metallic and iridescent, along with fail-safe neutrals like black, white, and nudes. Play on sheer and leather.

I would also think that there would be some trends from previous awards seasons, from romantic to minimalist, to the use of sheer fabrics and fringes. Silhouettes would go closer to the body, like with mermaid to serpentina cuts, though some would probably opt for the classic princess cut."

For beauty, updos are still best for more traditional gowns, although those rocking unique fabrics and materials and cuts would opt for a sleek ‘do. As with Fall/Winter trends, makeup is all about skin and highlights, so we expect polished glossy features, whether skin or eyes or lips. The red carpet is one of the most-awaited parts of the ball, and surely, all eyes will be on our favorite celebrities for what and who they will be wearing that night.”

Randz Manucom, Metro Fashion Editor

“This year might give us surprise looks as there is minimal or the dress code is very non-restrictive. And now that it's also open to more celebrities, the game will be so much better.

For the hair, I predict lots of updos as it usually fares well on the red carpet. It's this and a super straight hair at the back and tucked by the ears. For those very open to experimenting, I also feel like it's wigs season—at least two or three will be doing a short-haired wig or bob.

I think there will also be lots of fresh looks, brown tones, and dewy skin—these trends will be king on the red carpet. It's a lot less glamazon in terms of smoky eyes and red lips, but still polished in terms of gloss and sheen.

Local designers have dominated the red carpet, always. But this year might give us surprise looks in terms of international designers. Liza Soberano's Dior dress in 2017 was a standout and Bea Alonzo's Tom Ford also looked great. Others might follow suit just to set them apart. It will be a lot less train, more body hugging and exposed arms. It's all about flaunting the figure this year so expect sheer and crazy embellishment."

Kate Paras-Santiago, Metro Beauty Editor

"Lots of celebrities will probably dare to either go extremely romantic with voluminous ruffles and lace, paired with monochromatic pink makeup or sunset eyeshadow. Others will opt to go the extremely edgy route, with modern goth-inspired makeup à la Tom Ford Fall 2018 matched with fierce, figure-hugging gowns. I also still expect to see a lot of plumage and fringe details for the dresses. Cinderella-inspired ballgowns will always be a mainstay."
