Fashion Do's And Dont's: The Ultimate Style Guide For 2020
Here are trends we foresee and trends we will either miss or completely ditch from 2019.
2020 calls for fresh new takes on 2019’s trends. We’re either letting go or pushing through with trends worthy of innovation and well, further flexing. Although it’s hard to say that the trends we will be pushing through will last for the entire year, we’re at least willing enough to take bits of 2019’s best fashion moments with us. Do take note that trends are just trends, at the end of the day, you’re the true style expert when it comes to knowing which style fit you best!
Corsets
The rookie of the year comes to 2020 with one goal in mind: to cinch. Corsets or bustiers in some cultures were used as shape wear and solely just as intimates. For 2020, we’re taking these babies out for a spin. We’re stirring away from its erotic connotations and revamping the image of corsets as a style staple for elevating casuals, a next level version of cropped tops if we say so ourselves. Although we’ve only been seeing few brands adapting to this trend, we must say its better to dive in headfirst before it gets too saturated!

Multi-Pochettes
We’re saying goodbye to formless and two-dimensional fanny or bum bags and saying hello to multi-pochettes. Talk about luxury gone street! We’re seeing handbags from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Prada accompanied with tiny purses and in LV terms, a tinier handbag. We obviously just can’t get enough. We’re taking functionality and luxe to the next level with these on.
Square Toe Heels
Trends are ever-evolving, from 2019’s most coveted mules to its transition to kitten heels, trust us when we say we’ve been under the radar ready to forecast these premonitions. The kitten heels’ fresher cousin, the square toe kitten heels are definitely pushing through in 2020. Apart from its flattering form, the square toe heels are literally the perfect shoes to enter Spring/Summer 2020 with. Style these pairs with mid-length skirts, bell-bottom jeans, or biker shorts if you’re feeling adventurous!
Scarves
Scarves are the most underrated fashion piece of all time. You can literally throw this on as a hair tie, a headpiece, a top, a scarf for your bag, or as a scarf itself and you instantly look like you took time to put together an OOTD. Season per season, luxury fashion houses to fast fashion brands have been coming through with scarves ranging from lush florals, graphic lines, and eternal illusions for everyday. We do believe that it’s about time to have these pieces elevate our outfits again.
What to let go:
Stacked Necklaces
New Year, new me literally means letting go of all your vices, bad habits, and clutter as well. With this, we’re bidding farewell to stacked necklaces. This trend was cute for a while because of its 2000s maximalist feel but there’s a huge difference between maximalism and clutter. Other than its resemblance to a k-9 chain, we’re iffy about its effect on outfits that can stand out more without the neckline feeling too heavy. Remember that less is more and a highlighted clavicle can do you favours as well especially when you’re sporting a sleeveless top!
Neon and Reflective
The reign of neon is officially over and we’re giving it a stamp of retirement. We’re starting the new decade with 2020 vision and neon just won’t help us push through with that goal. With Pantone’s declaration of Classic Blue as color of the year, we’re seeing more of minimal and cool-toned pieces reigning 2020. There’s definitely no time for sore eyes! Save your neons for night outs if you’re not that ready to let this go, just know that you can ease your way into 2020 with cooler hues.
Micro Bags
We’re saying goodbye to micro bags because it’s just not worth it anymore. Apart from its truly hassle form and impractical size, we must say that micro bags are just pretty little things and 2020 calls for more function and smarter innovations. Rest in peace to the micro bags, they will be missed.
PVC and Transparents
In order to help our environment bounce back, we must fully let this trend go. We’re officially over with these pieces also because this trend is the most short-lived. If you truly care for the future, practice what you preach. If you're up for the illusion of height, opt for nude shoes instead. Canvas tote bags are better alternatives than PVC tote bags but remember that buying 5 different tote bags defeats the purpose.
Ugly Sneakers
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but I guess we can say these pieces did not just make the mark. Apart from how it's so difficult to style with and it doesn’t offer any versatility, we’re leaving these pieces behind. Although it can come as a statement piece for some fashionistas, we just don’t see the future with them on. Cop quintessential sneakers instead the ones that have wiser color ways, comfort, and style in one!
