Here's How You Can Rock '90s Trends Best, According To Maureen Wroblewitz!
Nostalgia alert! We bet you never imagined that fanny packs and micro glasses would see the light of day once again—but as the saying goes, fashion repeats itself, and iconic style trends from the ‘90s are having a major revival. Only this time, they’re not as cringeworthy as we thought they were.
Lately, our Metro Magazine September cover girl Maureen Wroblewitz has been donning chic outfits inspired by the throwback trend. Below, we’ve compiled some of our favorite looks, where the top model shows us how to pull off iconic ‘90s pieces in the new millennium. Take note, Metro women!
1. Micro Sunglasses
The Asia’s Next Top Model winner sports these trendy glasses with an effortless, minimalist black top. For a grungy vibe, she adds a black choker (a ‘90s classic!) and wears her tresses in messy, woke-up-like this waves.
2. Oversized Denim
Turn a trendy outfit office-appropriate by carefully selecting classic silhouettes. Maureen rocks the denim trend with her trousers of choice: wide leg pants! This vintage cut is known to elongate the legs, dressing up your look in an instant.
Plaid prints have been around for quite some time now, but it was most popular in the ‘90s—remember Cher’s iconic outfit in Clueless? Our September Issue cover girl sports the print with a flared top and head-turning statement pants, topping the look off with a French beret. Très chic!
4. Fanny packs
Laugh all you want, but belt bags are back in trend, dominating both the streets and the runways. The top model wears this look with combat boots and a military hat, another hot fashion piece today.
5. Logo Tees
There’s a right way to pull off logo shirts without looking tacky. Our Fashion Issue muse keeps it classy with no-fail jeans and a solid black belt—a perfect model-off-duty look!
6. White Shirt And Spaghetti Strap
Remember when layering spaghetti strap tops over white tees was all the rage in the ‘90s and early 2000s? Thanks to modern day fashion icons like Kendall Jenner and Rihanna, this blast from the past is made hot again. Our girl Maureen picks out a vibrant yellow shade for a bright, bold look.
7. Colored Glasses
Last, but definitely not the least, we’re borrowing this fashion piece from ‘90s boy bands (hey there, NSYNC!). Maureen sports orange-tinted sunglasses with a top of the same color, going for a fun monochromatic look.
