The Right Way To Rock Metallic
Who's excited for holiday dressing? We are! And by holiday dressing we don't mean knit sweaters and wearing head-to-toe red and green. We're in it for the sparkle and shine, a chance to go all out on the metallic, embellishments, and shimmery pieces. But how does one carry the metallic trend well, without attracting the wrong kind of attention? (Hint: You don't want to look like a Christmas tree ornament!) We enlisted the help of celebrity stylist Myrrh Lao To to help us style ourselves in this megawatt trend the right way!
1. Add a metallic piece to a basic ensemble to make the look more interesting. Pair a sequined skirt with a chambray button-down instead of basic trousers to keep it fun and chic!
We're fans of Sabine Getty's (left) plain black top paired with an intricately sequine pair of trousers. Tres chic!
2. Choose one metallic shade and commit to it. For example, for an all black look, add a statement piece like a gold biker jacket. Pair it with a pair of gold hoop earrings and rings to make the ensemble polished but fuss free.
3. Ace the footwear game by choosing shoes in high-watt metallic. While you can wear champagne-colored thigh-high boots with palettes of pastels, you can also wear gold booties with a denim number, or pair silver slides with white pieces.
