So Cute! Doraemon Is Just Announced As Uniqlo’s New Global Sustainability Ambassador
And it’s a green Doraemon!
Today, we see a new dawn in the fashion and sustainability sector. Global Japanese brand Uniqlo just announced today that Doraemon, an iconic Japanese cartoon character, is their newest global sustainability ambassador. This is in line with efforts of further strengthening their sustainability and environmental impacts to the world.
It’s not the usual blue cat-type robot Doraemon, though, that we’ve grown to love. Uniqlo’s version is a cute, smiley green Doraemon, which easily lets the message come across. This is Doraemon in Sustainability Mode. The choice of ambassadorship comes with a story. In the cartoon series, Doraemon traveled back in time from the 22nd and landed in his master friend Nobita and a series of fun and amazing adventure begins. This is the same storyline Uniqlo hopes to create with Doraemon: helping us carve out a better future through the power of clothing.
Part of the global event streamed from Japan are top global ambassadors in sports like tennis player Roger Federer who appeared in video and actress Haruka Ayase. Alongside Uniqlo’s promise to bettering their clothes sustainably, making sure they’re built to last while helping the community, the event reiterated every day little contributions to this global effort: using a refillable water bottle, carrying an eco bag with you, and more.
For 20 years, Uniqlo has been solidifying their sustainability efforts. And while it’s still a long way for everyone, little efforts such as today already create a ripple of effects. As more and more brands turn into conscious movements, collectively, fashion will see an even greener future—and hopefully as cute as a green Doraemon!
