Best Chefs Milan 2025

<p>The knives were out in Milan this week, but only in the best possible way. At the annual <a href="https://thebestchefawards.com/events/the-best-chef-2025/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>The</strong><strong> Best Chef Awards</strong></a>, one of the most closely watched events in the culinary calendar, five chefs from the Philippines earned distinctions that placed them alongside some of the world’s most celebrated names.</p><p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/jordynavarra/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Jordy Navarra</strong></a> of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/toyoeatery/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Toyo Eatery</a> retained his standing with two knives, while <a href="https://www.instagram.com/chefchelegonzalez/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Chele González</strong></a> of<a href="https://www.instagram.com/gallery.bychele/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> Gallery by Chele</a>, was promoted to two knives. The annual program culminates in a gala where chefs are awarded knives—three for the highest recognition, two for world-class achievement, and one for excellence. In past years, the roster has included international figures such as Joan Roca of El Celler de Can Roca in Spain, Björn Frantzén of Frantzén in Stockholm, and Dabiz Muñoz of DiverXO in Madrid.</p><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17594563353301.jpg" style="width:900px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><p>The Philippines has been part of this conversation for several years. At the 2024 edition in Dubai, three chefs represented the country: Navarra with two knives, and González and Stephan Duhesme of Metiz with one knife each. The 2025 Milan edition marked an expansion, with five Filipino chefs receiving honors—an increase that included one promotion and three new entrants.</p><p>This year’s gala also highlighted some of the biggest names in global dining. Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana in Modena, Yoshihiro Narisawa of Narisawa in Tokyo, and Joan Roca of El Celler de Can Roca in Girona were among those recognized at the highest level. Their presence underlined the international scope of the awards, which draw chefs from every corner of the world to celebrate professional excellence.</p><p>With five chefs now included, 2025 stands as the Philippines’ strongest showing to date at The Best Chef Awards, placing its representatives firmly within the company of the global culinary elite.</p>
