<p>The best time to drink beer is at a festival. You go with friends, make a beeline for your favorites, and discover bottles you didn’t know you were thirsty for. But every so often, a beer gathering does more than just pour drinks—it shows you something about the beer scene itself. <strong>Collabrewnation</strong> is one of those. </p><p>On <strong>February 26 and 27</strong>, <a href="https://asiabrewersnetwork.com/news/craft-beer-event-in-manila-to-offer-seven-collaborative-brews" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Collabrewnation</strong></a> unfolds at <strong>Greenfield District as a two-day craft beer gathering</strong> built around new collaborative releases. Eight beers will be introduced: seven brewed with regional partners from Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea, and one created with a local coffee shop. The premise is straightforward. Breweries from different cities—and in several cases, different countries—made beer together and will be pouring the results for Manila drinkers. </p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17722624307001.jpg" style="width:760px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><p>The visiting partners include <a href="https://www.instagram.com/theranchbrewing/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>The Ranch Brewing</strong></a> from South Korea,<strong> </strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/steersmanbrewery/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Steersman Brewery</strong></a> from Vietnam,<a href="https://www.instagram.com/the1925brewingco/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong> 1925 Brewing Co</strong></a>. from Singapore, and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sandportbrewery/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Sandport Brewing Co</strong></a>. from Thailand. They worked alongside Filipino brewers such as <a href="https://www.instagram.com/treelineales/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Treeline Ales</strong></a>, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/palmtreeabbey/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Palm Tree Abbey</strong></a>, and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/eldepositobrewery/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>El Deposito</strong></a>. The beers they created together were not just theoretical but will actually be on tap, poured into glasses, and judged in real time by the crowd.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17722626912412.jpg" style="width:760px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><p>The range of styles is broad. There is a calamansi-driven hazy NEIPA fermented with dual yeasts; a coconut-laced hazy NEIPA; a fruit-forward lager with mango and guava; a classic West Coast IPA; a hopfenweisse with banana-and-clove notes; a stout accented with coffee and blueberries; and a smoothie-style sour. One Cold IPA is particularly interesting for its use of jasmine rice in the mash.</p><p>Beer festivals are not new to Manila, but Collabrewnation feels more considered in its scope. I found myself noticing the creative and technical choices on display—which breweries paired up, the range of styles they are exploring, and how regional ingredients are finding their way into the beers.
