<p>Croissants. Smash burger patties. Yes, these two indulgent ingredients have finally come together to create one of the most awaited collabs in the local food scene: the <strong>Rebel x Scratch All-Day Brunch Specials</strong>, featuring limited-time creations that are expected to satisfy foodies in Metro Manila!</p><p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/rebelbakehouse.ph" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Rebel Bakehouse</a>, the cult-favorite bakery selling flaky, buttery croissants in all possible iterations, has quickly risen to fame through the years for its irresistible bread products. I remember making a beeline for its Baguio branch years ago to get my hands on their famous pastries. It did not disappoint. </p><p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/scratch.mnl" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Scratch Burgers</a>, on the other hand, has been making waves in the local burger scene as it is undoubtedly one of the most in-demand smash burgers in town. Their bestsellers include the classic Scratch Smash Burger, Bacon Smash Burger, and the Hot Chicken Sandwich!</p><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784875490675SnapInsta.to_753205407_17948607870227779_4224572668579296984_n.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/></div><script async="" src="//www.instagram.com/embed.js"></script><div><br/></div><p>METRO got to try it first at the Scratch branch in Poblacion, Makati, where we were given first dibs on the newest offerings: the <strong>Brekkie Croissant Smash, Piña Chicken Sandwich, </strong>and<strong> Sausage MacRebel! </strong>Here&#x27;s what we think about each one!</p><div><br/></div><div><strong><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" style="width:700px;display:block"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784871384879Brekkie Croissant Smash.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded"/><span class="fr-inner">The Brekkie Croissant Smash</span></span></span>The Brekkie Croissant Smash </strong>is not your typical breakfast toast. It&#x27;s loaded with protein (beef, egg, crispy bacon), but it&#x27;s also indulgent in that has Chicken Longga Jam, American Cheddar, spicy Scratch sauce, picked onion, sandwiched inside the iconic Rebel Croissant. While we do love our Greek yogurt bowls and avo toasts, indulging in a mouthwatering burger such as this from time to time won&#x27;t hurt. Besides, you only have til the end of August to try it!</div><p><strong>Our verdict:</strong> It&#x27;s a great twist to the classic bacon cheeseburger, but we advise that you eat it quickly, as the croissant can get soft after a while of exposure. Pair with Scratch&#x27;s House Iced Tea for a perfect meal!</p><div><br/></div><div><strong></strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" style="width:700px;display:block" width="700"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784871414558Pina Chicken Sandwich.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" width="700"/><span class="fr-inner">The Piña Chicken Sandwich</span></span></span></strong>Crispy Chicken Sandwiches<strong></strong><span style="margin:0px;padding:0px"><strong> </strong></span>are always on top of our go-tos when we are at a burger shop. Scratch boasts a mean Hot Chicken Sandwich, but the new <strong>Piña Chicken Sandwich </strong>is given a creative twist with Calamansi Labuyo Honey, Pineapple Coleslaw, and Salted Egg Tartar on top of a crunchy chicken thigh fillet sandwiched between Rebel&#x27;s Pineapple Bun.</div><p><strong>Our Verdict: </strong>We were surprised at first bite, in the sense that the fillings are quite overwhelming to the taste. You immediately taste the slaw, which pretty much defines the taste of the entire sandwich. It reminds me of a macaroni salad with crunchy bits of chicken! Definitely unexpected.<strong></strong></p><div><br/></div><div><strong><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" style="width:700px;display:block" width="700"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784871463060Sausage MacRebel.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-rounded" width="700"/><span class="fr-inner">The Sausage MacRebel</span></span></span></strong>Our favorite among all three sandwiches has got to be the <strong>Sausage MacRebel</strong>, a great breakfast pick when you pair it with a strong glass of iced coffee. In it is a house-made sausage patty (a bit spicy, which we love), fried egg, American Cheddar cheese, Hot Honey Mustard, sandwiched in between a Rebel Croissant bun. </div><p><strong>Our verdict:</strong> This is the sandwich we hope would eventually become a staple on the menu! What truly makes this sandwich stand out is the house-made sausage patty that really tastes like it was made from scratch and lends a kick with every bite. At one point, we even felt like the sandwich could be paired with rice for a complete Pinoy breakfast experience!
