Part of the heady lead-up to the ABS-CBN Ball was the ABS-CBN Pre-Ball Afternoon Tea Party, a glamorous afternoon where Sofia Andres, Sue Ramirez, Janella Salvador and other ABS-CBN stars gave a preview of their red carpet style with the Metro.Style editors. To nourish this stylish set, Makati Shangri-La served a sumptuous afternoon tea buffet.

While drawing inspiration from the very proper British tradition of afternoon tea, Makati Shangri-La’s tea menu has delightful Asian inflections, so perfectly suited for our tropical climate and palate. Something to appreciate is the versatility of the afternoon tea menus, which can accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions, including plant-based, gluten-free and sustainable options.

The Makati Afternoon Tea Set, which is available at the Lobby Lounge from two o’clock to five in the afternoon, from Fridays to Sundays, features signature plain and Cornish scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserves, served with a selection of savories such as crab vol au vent, Japanese-inspired beef sando and katsu, truffle vegetable lumpia and seasonal quiche of the day. These come with pastries like strawberry mochi, vanilla madeleines, and yuzu panna cotta with gula melaka.

The ABS-CBN Pre-Ball Afternoon Tea Party enjoyed a special afternoon tea buffet composed of a selection of bites: Bikini Sandwiches, Salmon Tartar Blinis, and Tofu Bonito. Hot dishes include Seafood Thermidor Tarts, Charcoal Beef Potato and Cheese Jalapeños, and Korean BBQ Chicken. The sweets include Durian Mango Cream Puffs, Vanilla Madeleines, and Raspberry Tart and Lime. The afternoon tea buffet can be arrange with the hotel’s Events team.
