Elevate Your Chocolate Baking Game With A Lesson From The Chocolate Master Himself, Chef Nick Malgieri

We all love chocolate desserts, right? But how do we improve our chocolate baking skills at home or for our baking business? You can’t do better than learn from renowned pastry chef and chocolate expert Chef Nick Malgieri. He’ll be back in Manila this August 3 for a one-day-only demo titled “A Date with Chocolate” to be held 10 am to 1 pm at the World Food Expo (WOFEX) 2018 at SMX in the Mall of Asia complex.

But be prepared as this is no generic baking demo, but one that will truly teach you the proper techniques to achieve baking success, whether you bake as a hobby or for your business.

It’s Chef Nick Malgieri’s third time in Manila to demonstrate cake and pastry recipes using cocoa and chocolate at WOFEX. Just like the past two years, he’ll be assisted by our very own Chef Jill Sandique, who was his student at Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School, now called the Institute of Culinary Education, where he continues to direct the baking program.

As a pastry teacher, Chef Malgieri is brilliant at breaking down techniques into easy-to-follow steps. He doesn’t simply demonstrate a recipe, but explains each step, sharing valuable insight and key techniques that recipes don’t usually divulge. And his chocolate recipes are keepers!

Chef Malgieri’s storied career as a pastry chef, educator, author, consultant, may take too long to write about. But a few highlights include being inducted into the Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America, and being voted one of the 10 best pastry chefs in America by Chocolatier and Pastry Art and Design magazines in 1998 and 1999.

The chocolate expert that he is, Chef Malgieri published his book, Chocolate, in 1998, voted Best Chocolate Book in the World by the 1998 Salon International du Livre Gourmand, and winner of an International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP)/Julia Child Cookbook Award for the best baking book of 1998. He has written many other award-winning cookbooks, including How to Bake in 1995, Cookies Unlimited in 2000, The Modern Baker in 2010, and his latest, Nick Malgieri’s Pastry: Foolproof Recipes for the Home Cook in 2014.
