Feast Your Senses At The Country’s Biggest Food Show

The biggest food show in town is back again on its 18th year—the World Food Expo 2018 or WOFEX. Now ongoing at the World Trade Center and the SMX Convention Center until August 4, WOFEX boasts the biggest number of exhibitors showcasing new ingredients, beverages, food products, kitchen equipment, and more. While WOFEX is essentially a trade show for buyers and sellers in the F&B industry, it has also become a haven for food lovers and home cooks to discover new products, sometimes even before they become available in retail. Not to be missed are the booths by international delegations from around the world, touting exotic items you won’t usually find in local supermarkets or restaurants.

Aside from the food exhibitors, WOFEX also offers other important activities like the Philippine Culinary Cup (PCC), the only culinary competition in the Philippines endorsed by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS). Now on its 9th year, the PCC consistently attracts many foreign teams to battle it out with some of the best hotels, restaurants, and culinary schools in the country. Not to be missed is the two-day Philippine Sustainable Gastronomy congress which jumpstarts the discussion on climate change, its impact on food production, and how we can find solutions.

At the Kitchen Theater, well-known chefs conduct cooking demonstrations that are open to all participants. As part of WOFEX University, participants can also sign up for seminars on a variety of topics, like how to make your cakes Instagrammable, or else, new ideas for today’s modern caterer. On August 3, one of America’s best pastry chefs Nick Malgieri demonstrates his well-loved chocolate recipes, while Chef Myke “Tatung” Sarthou launches his new cookbook, Dishkarte Sa Kusina, written in conversational Filipino or Taglish, to make cooking Filipino dishes easy and accessible for all.

Dubbed as the “Ultimate Food Show Experience,” WOFEX brings together industry folks and food aficionados during four glorious days of tasting, cooking, learning, and enjoying.
