While claiming to be the first Bulgarian restaurant in the country, they also take pride in serving fresh and authentic Bulgarian dishes prepared by Chef Plamen Yordanov; as well as offering spices which are sourced out directly from Bulgaria.
Bulgaria, located in Eastern Europe whose weather has both snowy winters and scorching summers, is known for serving grilled meats and vegetables as well as salads.
The restaurant's menu ranges from heavy meat-filled dishes such as The Wolf Salad (Meshana Skara) to healthy green salads such as Shepherd’s Salad and Ruska Salata (Russian).
During our interview with one co-owner, Ms. Rachel Angelova, she mentioned that the concept actually emerged from the marriage of two Fil-Bulgarian couples.
Bridging one culture to another, they aim to bring a synergy of the traditional Bulgarian dining experience and hospitable Filipino service.
Mehana is located in Lamp Quarters, a newly-opened food compound in Sto. Nino, Marikina City. The compound is shared with a few dining hubs like Chives, The Wingfather, Ahlee’s, Silyo, and Bubba Lab.
