I Tried Out foodpanda's New Long Distance Delivery Service And Here's What I Think

Because I'm always hungry

Have you ever felt sad or frustrated because you’re craving your favorite food from a specific restaurant, but they don’t allow delivery to your location due to distance? It’s a totally relatable scenario, right?

Food delivery has become part of our new normal since the lockdown, and it’s true ordering your next meal or celebration platter or bundle does come with limitations. However, as we slowly get settled into this kind of setup, we’re finding more ways of having our favorites sent to our homes — no matter how far the restaurant is from where we reside.

So I was interested when I heard that food delivery app foodpanda now has long distance delivery. The new feature, Extra Mile Delivery, increased the delivery radius from three to eight kilometers from your delivery address. That puts a lot of new options within reach.

I decided to test this out on a day when I was craving Korean-inspired treats. After a K-drama binge-watching session on a weekday afternoon, some Korean fried chicken sounded appealing. So I used the app to get a platter of flavored chicken wings, a box of Love Sweet donuts, and a few cans of the limited edition BLACKPINK Pepsi to go with my chosen theme.

I live in a provincial area, so it took almost an hour for my order to arrive. The Extra Mile Delivery comes with a P50 starting charge, which I think is really sulit. Imagine ordering from somewhere even farther—it’s much cheaper than having to place your order at the restaurant and then book a separate pick-up courier! So whether you’re buying a meal for a lot of people or just need a single order for yourself, I think it’s totally worth the price.

Apart from this, foodpanda is celebrating its seventh anniversary with even more promos for everyone to enjoy. There are discounts and promo vouchers from your favorite shops, plus every purchase worth P299 and above gives you a chance to win prizes from their ongoing raffle. What’s more, they’ve partnered with establishments like KFC to provide free meals to foodpanda riders, which makes ordering food a much sweeter deal.

A box of Krispy Kreme donuts just because I feel like it? No prob.
Shakey's thin crust pizza and fried chicken to keep me going when I'm working late.
No-cook weekends are so much easier now. Here's a spread from Via Mare.

I love all the new food options this feature is giving me. Try it!
