We're Loving How The New Golden Oreos Are So Perfect For Quarantine Snacking

Every now and then, Oreo releases a new flavor. Sometimes it celebrates a cultural moment, as in the Game of Thrones Oroes that came out just before the premiere of the final season. It was released with lots of cool GOT-themed fanfare and settled the Oreo as the cookie to have on hand while watching the GOT final season. 

And then, of course, there were the fun trendy flavors like Red Velvet Oreos or Cotton Candy Oreos. There were even some pretty weird variations (though they never made it to these shores) like Hot Chicken Wing Oreos and the Wasabi Oreos. Interesting, but not exactly the kind of iconic comfort eating you associate with the classic twist-lick-and-dunk original cookie. 

Anyway, the newest Oreo flavor is in town and it’s called — drumroll — Golden Oreos. As you can see, these are little golden cookie sandwiches with vanilla cream centers. The flavor is pretty close to the classic Oreos, but sweeter with subtle vanilla tones. This cookie is elegant, the kind you’ll probably like with a cup of tea rather than a glass of milk.  Or use in fun, imaginative ways as cupcake toppers shown below:

Vanilla is an interesting flavor. Often mistaken for bland, the vanilla flavor is especially attractive to people who are idealistic and intuitive with warm personal relationships. Just the kind of cozy friends we need in these times when we’re all adjusting to the new normal.
