How Jollibee Keeps Winning Our Hearts With Their #KwentongJollibee Valentine Ads Year After Year
They're even sweeter than a classic Chocolate Sundae Twirl
Long distance relationships, first dates, and a different kind of hero—these are the themes of Jollibee's 2021 Valentine's Day campaign that so many have been looking forward to seeing, including us!
The three-part campaign contains the next set of #KwentongJollibee ads—famously emotional short films that have made audiences cry searing tears hotter than a freshly sliced thigh from a two-piece Chickenjoy order—and this time, the focus is on love and relationships in the time of COVID.
As an extra sweet treat, Jollibee partnered with three of the biggest names in showbiz today to direct each of the campaign's installments.
Antoinette Jadone helmed LDR, Pepe Diokno created First Date, while Ianco Dela Cruz brought us Hero.
The first installment from Jollibee's 2021 Valentine's Day campaign, LDR, was released on February 4.
The four-minute video (no spoilers ahead, worry not) shows just how much the COVID crisis has created both physical and emotional distance between ourselves and our significant others, but that there are ways—possibly ways involving a delivery of a burger doused in the secret sauce of imagination and love—that can close the gap.

First Date, the second installment from Jollibee's 2021 Valentine's Day campaign, came out on February 8 and although it features a just one main character instead of two, it teaches everyone that love need not come from a partner, but from the person looking back at you in the mirror, to be especially powerful.

Jollibee's emotional campaigns are a staple on big holidays involving families and loved ones like Christmas, Grandparents Day, Father's Day, and Mother's Day. Several times in the year, they release content meant to make audiences feel like they're getting a hug from the inside out, one originating from their gut and spreading all the way through to their fingertips, kind of like the feeling you get after a satisfying meal.
The official YouTube channel Jollibee Studios has all the #KwentongJollibee videos they've released over the years (including many, many TV commercials dating all the way back from a decade ago for an extra serving of nostalgia), with their most watched video of all time, Jollibee, Sarap Kasama Ang Pamilya, racking in 35 million views.
Many of #KwentongJollibee ads are inspired by true stories, like Garapon, a story about a grandma's love for her apo, Apart, a re-telling of a couple finding love in each other a second time, and First Love, a short but touching chronicle of how a father's love can shape a daughter's view on relationships.
They have a knack for telling stories that resonate with the Filipino heart, including Mother's Day special titled Parangal that's all about a single mom raising her son on her own, Biyahe, an inter-generational tale about an elderly jeepney driver who continues to provide for his son and grandson, and Pamasko, a gut-punching portrayal of OFW parents spending the holidays away from their only child.
Jollibee's 2021 Valentine's Day campaign is just the first of many more to come this year.
We can't wait for the rest to come, but in the meantime, could you pass the fries, please?
