Make Your Mark Manila Is An Inspiring Glam Christmas Benefit To Help Solve Hunger In Filipino Communities
The event features special menus from some of Manila's top chefs and a luxurious wine tasting hosted by Filipino sommelier Jhonel Faelnar. Here's how to join.
The best gift is the one that gives back, and this is especially true during the Christmas season. One inspiring and glamorous event that you can happily support is Make Your Mark Manila, a glam holiday benefit and fine wine tasting on Saturday, December 12th, at 8:30 p.m., on Zoom. This event will bring together champions and game changers to raise funds for Advancement for Rural Kids (ARK) Feed Back, a vegetable exchange program that shares and supports rural communities in the Philippines. The goal is to help them secure their food, health and to have a self-sustaining future.
It will be an unforgettable night featuring daring leaders, and stories of courage, determination and triumph. It will also be a night where guests can journey to far away places through a blind tasting of the world’s rare and coveted wines selected by Jhonel Faelnar, the New York City-based sommelier and 2020 Wine Enthusiasts’ 40 Under 40.
Joining the event are partner chefs Margarita Forés of Grace Park, Jonas Ng of James & Daughters, and Cyril Addison of Ricksha Streetside Tandoori, who will each prepare a special menu that guests can enjoy with their wines. Katz Salao will co-host, Philip Soliven, Carla Villacorta, Joey Hofilena, Yvette Esporlas, Chris Lopez (Metro.Style), Lala Ventura, Lyba Godio (Amorita, The Funny Lion), and Mark Ocampo (Auro) lead the curators’ circle. PWX will hand deliver the wines. Guests can win sought-after prizes throughout the night.
ARK is a social impact innovator that partners with rural communities in the Philippines who want to secure food, get kids back to school, and be self-sustaining. ARK’s keystone program, the P2.50 ARK Lunch, is the only school lunch in the world that parents contribute to day one and fully fund on their own after three years. With the pandemic, ARK created a new solution, Feed Back, to solve the growing hunger and economic crisis experienced in farming and fishing communities. Feed Back is securing food and health in just five weeks, making fisherfolk into enterprising gardeners, creating excess food for families and communities to sell to each other, next door barangays and the nearby towns. It is bringing hope and joy, and uniting communities.
