Everything You Need To Know About The McDonald's BTS Meal Drop On June 18

Just three more days till you can get your hands on McDonald’s limited edition The BTS Meal. Are you excited? McDonald’s latest celebrity meal is the result of a collab with global superstars BTS, the extremely popular K-pop group known for its record breaking music releases and hordes of devoted fans. 

“The band has great memories with McDonald’s. We’re excited about this collaboration and can’t wait to share the BTS Meal with the world,” Big Hit Music, BTS’s record label, said in a press release.

The meal debuted in the US and 11 other countries last May 26, with scheduled releases in 49 other countries. In the Philippines, the BTS  Meal will be available in all McDonald’s branches nationwide starting June 18. 

What The BTS Meal is 

The BTS Meal consists ten pieces of Chicken McNuggets with two limited-time sauces picked by BTS and inspired by McDonald’s South Korea: a Cajun Sauce with hot mustard and chili peppers, and a Sweet Chili Sauce that has a little less heat and a nice sweet-and-sour balance. Medium fries and Coke round up the meal. 

Merch drop 

Just as exciting as the meal itself is the limited edition merch collection. Actually, the first merch drop happened last May 27, but you can still shop for them in the WeVerse Shop app. A new BTS x McD merch collection is dropping on June 17. 

Safety first 

In some countries, there was so much frenzy for the BTS Meal drop that some McDonald’s outlets were forced to close. Delivery riders responding to the avalanche of orders violated safety protocols and safety distancing measures. 

The McDonald’s branches in the Philippines have learned from this, and assure us that they are carrying out measures to meet the demand. “We have a full team working really hard to ensure that we will be able to provide our customers with a great BTS Meal experience through every touchpoint,” said Adi Hernandez, corporate communications head of McDonald’s Philippines.

Health and safety protocols will be implemented at all branches, including correct social distancing and frequent sanitation of all necessary areas.  Contactless transactions will be in practice as much as possible.  “We will also be reminding our customers via our social media pages prior to the launch to ensure that these protocols will be observed once they order their much-awaited BTS Meals,” said McDonald's.

Meanwhile, some McDo outlets are so prepared they even turned themselves purple to be in sync with the launch.

TikTok dance challenge

Leveling up the fun factor, McDonald's employees in the different branches started a dance challenge to the tune of BTS songs. They showed us some pretty cool moves! Check out the hashtags #mcdocrewdancechallenge and #mcdopurpleyou to watch. The dance challenge videos have already gone viral with millions of views on YouTube. 

How to order The BTS Meal

Now we come to the most important question of all. How can you get your hands on the limited edition BTS Meal? According to McDonald's, the meal will be available through McDelivery, drive-through, and at the front counter of McDonald’s branches for dine in and takeout. You can also order via GrabFood. 

McDonald's had earlier opened a reservation period open on the McDo app last Sunday, June 13, from 7 am to 7:20 am. A second reservation period was opened on June 15 from 9 to 10 am. If you are one of the lucky few who managed to secure a slot, you can pay for and claim your orders on June 17. The meal will retail at p565 and be available for a limited time only.
