7 Magical Mother's Day Meals That Will Make Up For Being Stuck In Quarantine

While we’re sheltering in place, the activities we usually associate with Mother’s Day might feel world’s away from our new normal. But Metro.Style realizes that in times like these, it’s actually more important than ever to maintain the rhythms of life, including the celebration of one of the most important people in our lives — mom. 

So we put together the Metro Food Pop Up for Mother’s Day, a collaboration with handpicked chefs and restaurants who will create a special Mother’s Day set menu available via takeout or delivery service on specific dates, for all the weekends of May. 

Inspired by the idea of traveling via one’s palate, each restaurant represents a specific cuisine. The set menus are carefully curated by Cyrene dela Rosa in collaboration with our partner chefs, who inspire us with the magical meals they can produce in spite of the restrictions imposed by quarantine and working with only skeleton crew. 

Kicking off the roster is People’s Palace, with Chef Colin Mackay and executive chef Kerwin Go created a modern Thai menu good for four. Available only on Mother’s Day, May 10, you must preorder by 2 PM on Saturday, May 9, in order to avail of this menu. 

Chef Colin Mackay shares: "Since People’s Palace opened 20 years ago in Malate, up until mid March in Greenbelt 3, we have welcomed so many families through our doors to experience delicious Thai cooking and the warm hospitality of our service team. Despite the unprecedented circumstances that we must all endure, I hope that you will still be able to celebrate on Mother’s Day with you families and enjoy  my special menu created in the spirit of sharing food together."

With Metro Manila in ECQ, safety and hygiene are paramount concerns, and People's Palace takes health and safety very seriously.

"First and foremost we believe that sourcing quality fresh ingredients is paramount, so our in house team of purchasers have over the years sourced a  number of excellent  suppliers of the unique ingredients that we need to cook the best Thai food. In addition we run our own organic farm in Cavite where a team of gardeners manage the supply of kaffir lime leaves, pea eggplants, betel leaves, Vietnamese coriander, holy basil, fabulous mint and more that we use in our cooking. This  efficient direct supply chain ensures the least amount of exposure to potential contamination and is a true example of following the principles of the  farm to table movement."
