Mulberry Door Turns 2 With A 3-Part Benefit Dinner Highlighting Local Ingredients
As Mulberry Doorcelebrates two years of serving luxe comfort food to its diners, owner Trish Panlilio launched a series of specially curated dinners in collaboration with women entrepreneurs involved with community-based projects.
The “nawwTy Gives Back” campaign is a three-part dinner series that support local artisans and partner communities, making use of homegrown ingredients for each dish in the five-course menu. Last June, the dinner series kicked off with a collaboration with Holy Carabao Holistic Farm’s Hindy Weber and Melanie Go, supporting the Samahan ng Organikong Industriya ng Laguna (SOIL). Trish did her own interpretation of the organic store’s items, the first leg featuring dishes using organic produce from Holy Carabao’s own farm in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
For the appetizers, guests were served with Cream of Zucchini with Roasted Corn Kernels and Salad Greens & Pickled Sugar Beets with a Mulberry Vinaigrette Dressing, a healthy and tasty way to begin the feast. The soup introduced the interesting match of a creamy base with a crunchy twist, while the salad offered a refreshing yet filling plateful of mixed greens.
The mains consisted of the Aubergine Roll with Lemon Crab Meat, Oven Roasted Conchinillo with Eggplant Chimichurri, and Pinakbet Paella & Pickled Banana Peppers, which are the stars of the night. A bite of the rolls are light and easy on the palate, complementing the savory flavors of the conchinillo and paella that came right after.

And finally, the delectable ending is brought about by a sweet treat of Carabao's Milk Ice Cream with Aratilis Compote & Honey Tuille for dessert. The childhood favorite aratilis incorporated in this dessert is a nostalgic taste that brought comfort by the end of the meal.
Priced at P7,000 per head, the upcoming dinners will be held in August and October. The second part will highlight local livestock ingredients from Backyard Farms this for the benefit of Best Buddies Philippines, an organization supported by Michelle Aventajado and Sabrina Go of MothersWhoBrunch. The last one will be a mouthwatering merge of ingredients from Holy Carabao and Backyard Farms, which will benefit the GREAT Women Stock Purchase Fund for Weavers.
